Swapping to Adaptive Sport Seats...Plug and Play?
My '08 Turbo came from the factory with standard power adjustable, heated seats. I'd like to swap to power adjustable, heated, adaptive sport seats.
Will all functions of the adaptive seats work "right out of the box", or will the car need to be reprogrammed for the adaptive seats to function properly, or will they simply not fully work?
Thanks!

You need to program them in with a PIWIS. When I took the PIWIS course there was a lot of talk about obtaining a code to enable the features of the installed products...they will NOT work fully 100% without PIWIS programming.

It get better too. The enabling codes come from PAG (Porsche AG) only, so if you for example install a sport exhaust on the car, and you own a PIWIS (like I do) you still need to interrogate the car with the PIWIS and then punch in the enabling code to activate that feature. So that means you have to be buddies with a dealer to get those codes or take the car right to the dealer, who may or may not want to do it for you.
In the case of sport exhaust, the hardware works out of the box, but the computer control of the valves won't without programming.
With seats, I am guessing that the basic functions will work because the wiring is similar, but advanced functions will require the car to be TOLD it has adaptive sport seats. Told by a PIWIS, with the enabling code.

Are you sure? I did this exact swap on my C2S and everything worked 100% including the heated and memory function.

OP has nothing to lose here. Buy the seats and put them in the car, if something doesn't work or you get an error, run the car over to the dealer. At most programming is a 1 hour job.
I am not stating definitively it will need it, just be aware that it *might*

No, I am not positive, but I can tell you that the "smarter" the option you are trying to install, the more likely it will need programming.

They're only 2500 now. They're the cracked ones, you can't buy an original. And you really need to take a class, there's lots to know here. not like Durametric at all.
