Oil Consumption
Just got back from a 4000 mile drive out and back from the PCA Parade in Spokane, WA. I'm running 5W40 Joe Gibbs synthetic and burned one quart over the 4000 miles. Just interested in knowing if that consumption rate is typical for a turbo.

Mine seems to only use oil if I shut it off while still cold. I've had other cars that did this, and they all use quite a bit under those circumstances, but none when properly warmed up each time they are started.

No bars down yet and I'm about 3,500 miles from last change.

For what it's worth: My 07 TT burns close to a quart every 1k miles . No smoke or leaks . My foot is in it whenever the opportunity is there.
Blackstone analysis says she is healthy based on the first sample. 78k on the clock .
Running Mobil1 5W50 . The motor is quieter than when it had 0W40 in it, and I am in 100 degree temps often.

My consumption of a quart in 4000 miles was from my recent trip to Spokane. Ran 80/90 mph much of the way in 90/95 degree amibients. If I had one of my old air cooled Porsches, I would have expected twice the consumption I've seen on this water cooled motor.

That's completely normal, and well below Porsche's threshold of 1 litre per 600 km.
Plus, you made the switch to DT40. It will stabilize, and settle in.

Picked my car up with 19K on it and the dealer had just changed the oil (0W-40). In 5K mi. I needed to add a quart. The oIl report was good, but I noticed that the flashpoint was lower than what I used to see running Redline 5W-40 in my old 996.2 4S. So far with 5K mi. on the Redline oil I haven't had to add any.
