I’ve come to realize that as a recent 997.2 manual owner, that there is virtually nothing out there reviewing this car in manual form. Just about every search for a 997.2 manual comes up with a .2 PDK review or a .1 review. Even the one Autoweek manual review listed in this thread makes no mention of the manual, other than that it is still a Getrag unit which is not even correct. Other than that, the review only mentions PDK so one would be hard pressed to know for sure whether they even tested the manual here – The written review states PDK (quote: "There also is a new optional gearbox, the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch unit. Fitted to the car we drove, it replaces the Mercedes Benz-produced five-speed automatic on the old 911 Turbo") but the stat sheet states manual. In any case, it was not at all helpful in describing the manual's characteristics.

I previously had separate threads for .1 reviews, .2 reviews, etc.

But it became a bit of a pain to update the separate locations. So I've consolidated all the reviews into one thread (out of laziness). Please go to the following thread to find that consolidated list:

997 :: Professional Reviews

And as ever if you spot a professional review that should be added, please share the link in that post, and I'll update the consolidated list accordingly.

Thanks.

Karl.

I've been periodically updating the consolidated thread. Have added the following Turbo reviews since the last time I bumped this thread...

997.1 Turbo reviews
  • Drive.com.au - Turbo Coupe (6MT) - YouTube
    • Published in May 2012, but presumably the review occured back in 2006
  • Speed TV's Battle of the Supercars - 997.1 Turbo Coupe (Tip) vs. Nissan GT-R (DCT) - YouTube
    • Professional racers Paul Tracy (IndyCar) and Tanner Foust (Rally/Drifting) compete against each other in these cars
    • The 997TT is wearing some form of bodykit, but they quote standard 480 HP levels - so presumably the engine is stock
    • Presenation style is like WWE, so beware...
    • April 2015 (but the original broadcast date is sometime before that)
  • Number27 - Turbo Coupe (6MT) vs. Lotus Evora S (6MT) - YouTube
    • March 2018

997.1 Turbo Cabriolet reviews
997.2 Turbo reviews
  • Edmunds - Turbo Coupe (PDK) - YouTube
    • May 2010
  • Drive.com.au - Turbo Coupe (PDK) vs. Holden V8 Supercar (Sequential) - YouTube
    • December 2011

Modified 997.1 Turbos
Modified 997.2 Turbos
  • Speed TV's Battle of the Supercars - Evolution Motorsports EVT650 997.2 Turbo Coupe (PDK) vs. Evolution Motorsports twin-turbo Audi R8 V8 Coupe (6-spd auto-clutch) - YouTube
    • Professional racers Paul Tracy (IndyCar) and Tanner Foust (Rally/Drifting) compete against each other in these cars
    • Presenation style is like WWE, so beware...
    • April 2015 (but the original broadcast date is sometime before that)

Sportec turbo - WOW -

"The standard Turbo revs to 6800rpm, weighs 1585kg and develops 472bhp; this one can hit 8400rpm, weighs 1450kg and puts out 846bhp. A quick prod of the calculator reveals the Sportec almost doubles the standard Turbo’s power-to-weight ratio. At 593bhp per ton it’s also 72bhp per ton up on the Veyron."
