Default Best method of cleaning track rubber off of front of car?

Hey Guys,

I had a long hot day at Auto club speedway. My white GT3 is caked in rubber from the bumper to the windshield.

I don't have a clear bra, whats the best method you guys do to take this stuff off without damaging paint?

Thanks
-Dan

WD-40 works well.
It also removes any wax, but does not harm the paint.
Soak a rag and go.

Any rubbing alcohol will work as well. It will also remove any wax.

Also, any polisher wax/cleaner wax will also remove it.

Molecule cleaner works really well. Better than Mothers by a long shot.

All that rubber means is that you were on someone's 6 often. Great driving.

I find Mother's R3 effective. I haven't compared to Molecule...ordered a couple bottles to compare. Good thread.

It's rubber. Petroleum based. You guys are wasting money on marketed cleaners. Any mild solvent will remove it. diluted isopropyl is cheap, effective and harmless to the paint. Same as 3M adhesive remover. Cheap and you can cut it with the iso. most mild is citrus based adhesive remover.

^does that mean goo-gone should work for track rubber? Goo-Gone Auto. I find if I don't clean track rubber within a week it becomes way harder to remove - lots of scrubbing which I hate.

I use Mothers R3 and happy with the results. For areas that are really bad I will spray it on and let sit for a couple minutes while I clean a different area, then when I return it simply wipes off.
For decal residue, like at the end of the fundraising season, I use Goo Gone. Doesn't harm paint or clear film. Once done I use a California Duster over the car and any left over residue on the car shows up dark (white car). Great way to find the spots you've missed.

Yes, but the rubber will outgas and become hard like you say. if the rubber has been on a while, just let the goo gone soak on the rubber a bit or wet a paper towel with it and set that on the affected area. it should wipe with minimal scrubbing after that.

Im sure many guys on this forum do this but bring some solvent/goo gone to the track with you and thoroughly wet a microfiber with it after you've packed up and called it a day. Then, take five minutes and wipe off the track rubber. You can clean and wax later. The rubber is freshest then and comes off like nothing.
