Default Optimum size for wheel build?

Considering getting some wheels built by Finspeed or Forgeline. At this point these wheels will be used as daily driver wheels as well as 2/3 track days a year. General questions:

Optimum size? 18 or 19?
Offset? Stock?
Widths? Stock?

Right now the car is much better than me and I may eventually end up with 2 sets of wheels.

Any thought welcome. Thanks in advance.

I went with 19" Forgelines for my .2 RS. Felt it gave me a good number of tire options, everything from PSC2, Trofeo R and Hoosiers.

Here are the specs of my GA3R.

Fronts: 19” x 9” et 47
Rears: 19” x 12” et 48

I'd get 18's for track duty, way more dedicated track tire options (NT01, Hoho, Pirelli slicks, Mich slicks) and the wheels will be lighter.

I run 18x9 and 18x12. If you want to run wider tires you can do 18x10 and 18x13 but may be a tight fit on a NB car.

Just ordered a set of bbs e88. Went with 19x9 +50 and 19x12 +64. Will be running stock width tires in the rear and doing 245 up front. I went with 19's because there seem to be more street tire options available. 18" 305's are not easy to find.

After years of 18" for track wheels I am migrating to 19"

More technology is going into tyres for larger wheel sizes, at least that's what we see with available options in Australia.

I am getting new lips and barrels for my E88's to make the 19" I still have a set of HRE in 18" just in case.

It sounds like you need something that is very lightweight (for your occasional track days) yet aesthetically pleasing and durable for every day use.

Have you considered HRE's R101 Lightweights? They check in at under 20 lbs per wheel.

I feel the same way on R comp type tires. I run Forgeline 19" wheels.

Thank you all for the feedback. It sounds like there is a migration to 19's by manufacturers that is kind of dictating the market...

Nitto making NT01s in 19s now is pretty boss and they are still cheap.
