997.1 GT3 Pricing

Unfortunately I still think a lot of people are hoarding these cars and not driving them due to the absurd bubble values that are out there.

i bought my gt3 right at the bottom of the market w/ very low miles 20k and nice options.
literately a few weeks after price's started to shoot up. If i had listen to this thread, i would have not DD, tracked, weekend, road tripped this car and have added 20k, miles / smiles!
If i would have "saved" and not drive, lets say i could "sell" for 100k. in ~4 years / that's appreciation of 5k , not including my COGS. Which means profit would be near nill. I probably have spend more then 20k in chocolate / ice cream in the past 4 years. oh well. 25k for some on rennlisters is a months pay, from people i know. which is mind boggling that some really care about this.
Here's a COGS does not make sense.
First, lets calculate purchasing power of 2013, October vs. today.
https://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm
oct 2013, 75,000 today 78,600
-we established price of car , 75,000 or 78,600 in todays money
-lets calculate months between purchase and today, 46 months
- cost of insurance over last 46 months, *150 = 6900
- cost of 1 oil change a year, if not driven 4 years *$100 = 400
- cost to replace tires , at least once since then = $1600
- cost to do spark plugs / coilpack - = 800
- cost to do bi annual service = 1200 * 2 = 2400
- cost of 1.5% loan rate of a 75,000 carloan = 2200
- tax' paid for car $7200 when purchase
- registration every year avg $300 *4 years = 1200
26300 net COGS, if i were to sell car today at 100k, i'm losing money....$1,300 at min , remember this is i never drove the car, just bubble wrap it.

I knew from the first post airbag997 didn't own one. Drove one for an afternoon and is an expert. I owned an S with everything done you could possibly do to it and it wasn't even close. Great DD yes, but had no soul. The one you drove must have had issues. Below 4-5k they are same car, above that the S runs out of steam very quickly. The 3.6 revs so fast and the rpms never end. Keep saving for your car that you want and learn to respect things you can't afford. Trying to downplay something to rationalize why you can't buy it is fooling yourself. If you want an ultimate DD, buy a turbo. Wait you probably can't afford that either. I'm usually never a negative person, but someone trolling in a forum who doesn't even own deserves it. The 997 Gt3 in all variants is an amazing piece of engineering. It's not a drag car, but one that has ample power, amazing handling, and feels light on its feet. Like all Porsche's it's the sum of the parts that makes it special. I stand that it is a great choice and hard to beat under 100k. Good luck in your search and get the car you want with the proper options and then maybe you won't act like someone pissed in your cheerios.

I hope that this is a trend.
$88K, 15kmi .1gt3
Clean car, nice history, great mods, almost all OEM parts included and a fair pair price.
IMHO this is a benchmark car for the current market.

Good price but also does not include the PCCB rotors so I think it is priced right, by no means a benchmark due to mods, lack of pccb rotors and a third of its life track duty.

Apologies for the confusion. I didn't mean a bench mark for the .1gt3. I'm sure an OEM, single owner, less than 15K mi vehicle could fetch up to $100k right now, if not more to the right buyer.
I also think this vehicle is priced well for what is included in the sale. In comparison to the .1gt3s that have been sitting in the classifieds this looks like a better deal/value. $.02

Obviously the 997s won't be showing effects immediate but gradually. The RS's have already started coming down. .2s were going for 200k, while .1 were going for 170k not too long ago. Now there are handful of . 2s that are going for 170 and I've seen some as low as 155-160k that have still been sitting around for over a month. .1s RS's are about 150-160.

GT4 didn't put a dent in 997 GT3 prices. They've been hovering where they are for about the last 24-30 months. 997.1 85-105K, 997.2 105-130K (non RS) depending on mileage, options, condition, mods, track use, overrevs, color etc. The only .2 RS I saw going for 200 were insanely low miles PTS collector cars. $160-185K has been the norm for a good while now.

u can ask what you like, but you will have to find a sucker for it.
i always pay above mkt for the cars i want. and usually by a very substantial amount. but there are no .1GT3 i will pay 100k for. even pts with zero miles.
someone mentioned GT4 the mix. tjhat is not the same as GT3 and if buyer is cross shopping b/n the two, that buyer is awfully confused.
