I have a friend who is a tech at Ferrari of SF. He says the car they work on most is the F430.

Have you considered a 991 GT3?

Well that makes sense from an age and quantity perspective though so not sure that is good metric

Default Bad idea

I had a 430 scud . Way better than a 430. And I have a gt3 997.1. That is such a iconic car it's hard to imagine a better driver car. Don't do it

I had a Scud. I would not track that car unless you've got $$$. There was a guy around here a few years back who tracked his. He had heat and issues. I'd recommend a Ferrari challenge car if you're going to track that much.

Funny I did the opposite. I purchased the F car first then sold it to get a 997 RS. Ferrari ownership is special and if your a car guy its something you need to experience. If you have Ferrari dreams I say you need to do it. I may get flamed for this but if your in the $120k budget range look at California's they come with a adjustable coilover suspension and with the right set of wheels and exhaust its a hell of a lot of car for the money and doesn't have the old F1 transmission issues. If you were track rat I would tell you to stick with a 430 but since your canyon cruising the California is perfect for that and prolly find something with warranty and well within your budget. GL

Haha- I went 911T to Stradale to RS to Scud back to RS and dedicated track car. Really really wish I'd kept the Stradale...

I test drove a 430 a while ago and although I really liked it, my recollection was that it "felt" similar to the speed and power delivery of my former 997 gt3. That's One of the reasons I went with a gallardo. I Just wanted the different "feel" of the torque of a v10. If you are hankering for a change or just want to scratch a Ferrari itch though, I say go for it!. They are super fun, look amazing, and sound even more amazing, and come with all the pomp and attention that makes such cars fun. It will NOT have the reliability of a well maintained mezger though!

Haven't driven a GT3 - have a TT. Haven't driven an F1 430 - but I had the opportunity to HPDE an MT a few years ago. I did it side by side with a bunch of other exotics, including a Murcielago and a 997TT. Crap I just realized I'm getting old - this had to be 10 years ago now...

The 430 was the stand out best, followed by the TT. Driving it was one of the single most fun experiences I've had. The Lambo felt like a bus in comparison, even though it was 15 mph faster down the back straight (180 vs 165). I swore some day I'd have one, but it's still on the bucket list unless it drops a bit more or I sell the TRiumph.

If you want to scratch the F itch and in that budget I would get a 430 spider. Great sound and sounds glorious with top down going thru tunnels. I also think it looks stunning. Had a black 430 spider for a couple of weeks. Looked amazing.

If you decide to spend more the Scud is great. The 360 straddle is the real deal. Not the fastest around but oh my so much emotion.
Like someone said before, be prepared with some benjamins. They can get out of hand.
I've always lusted for a F car. Been very fortunate to use other peoples F cars for extended time. And to tell you the truth. I always came back to Porsches.
I put F cars in the if it floats, flies or f....! Rent it.

IMO the Scud is a little bit contrived as a track car but still an awesome experience. I'd love one as a road car/occasional track day, although the running costs would have me running.
