Default BMW M2 fun next/after 997 GT3..?

Hi guys,

someone own/experienced both.
Can a BMW M2 fun next to a 997 GT3?
Would you take the m2 for a mountain blast or trackday when you have 997 GT3 in the garage...
Daily should be more practical but thats not that much important. My point is driving pleasure and fun.

We own both. My wife drives the M2 daily. Great car, but I honestly could not see either one of us choosing it over the GT3 for a mountain run, unless we needed the cargo space.

M2 is a great car. If you don't own a gt3! You will always grab the keys for the gt3 when they hang next to the m2 keys.

I have a friend with a stable of wonderful P cars. He uses his M2 to DD, park outside, run errands. I know first world problems and not in my league.

He NEVER takes it when we go on some fun spirited drives. That should help.

Well, I have a M235 (good enough for me) and would choose GT3 hands down for any type of spirited/fun drives. Surprised to find that there is such a thing as a M235 "Cup" car.......

I'm on one of the mythical wait lists for an M2 GTS in 2019 to add to my GT3

Different cars for different purposes. M2 is more comfortable, easier to drive at the limit (very neutral), torquey down low, much quieter and softer. The last two track weekends I took my M2 to the track instead of my GT3.

ya i don't see an M2 providing comparable thrills to a GT3. i found it a bit boring. maybe look at that M4 GTS, heard good things.

Not exactly the same but I DD a 1M. Its a better car for city driving than the GT3. Its smaller and usually gets no attention at all.

But when it comes to long tours or trackdays, I take the GT3 every time.

I Shaun's this weekend at thill and it was a BLAST. 4 corner StopTech Trophy, MCS, and aero. I think it has enough power to do stupid things, but not too much like the GT3. Even with the 888R, it was really neutral, predictable, and smooth. When it started to slide it was really progressive. Really like the wheelbase, front engine and RWD combo. It's not a GT3 replacement, but it's a great street car that can be a ton of fun on track.

So throw $20K at the car and then its just okay.

I drove this car (stock) back to back against a Cayman S. I hate Caymans and I would still pick it over the M2. Heavy, nannied to death, etc.
