Default Better to sell my 997.1 GT3 this year or next year?

My son is starting college in the fall and has decided to go to a private school out of state, so tuition and housing will be a challenge.

I dont need the money this year, but will come in handy the following year when my other teen will be starting college

I am in no rush to sell it but want to maximize my sale proceeds. It's a stock silver 2007 with 44k miles. The only options are PCCB and xenons.

Any thoughts on pricing and whether I am better off selling it this year or wait until the following year?

Thanks!

dad is that you?

If you sell i this year, do it now while the itch for a summer sports car is still there. By July or August it's too late to take advantage of that and you'll have to wait until next year for max gains anyway. 997.1 GT3 prices have been essentially flat or down only slightly for well driven cars like yours. You're not going to lose money on it by waiting. But the opportunity cost from not investing the proceeds from its sale is another matter.

to answer your question, i would look to sell this year before the manual 991.2 GT3's are more abundant.

^^^Agree with this and we don't know what's going to happen with the economy.

I personally think all these cars will have a little dip over the next few years. Then obviously reach new all time highs next time they go up.

Op,

Your guess is as good as ours.

991.2 GT3's with manual transmissions will never be abundant and they will be selling for 20-40k over MSRP for atleast a year and half after they are released. It wont screw up the market for a 997 GT3. Track rats are always hunting down 997 GT3's with miles you will be safe whenever you sell because its a great car with a great motor and trans...

I dont think the 991.2 manual have a big impact. Price spread is to big.
IMHO the 997 GT3 is another more special car only same name.
Drive it!

Maybe the 991.2mt won't directly impact sales prices of 997gt3.

But there is just more to choose from today than there used to be.

You got 991.1gt3, gt4 and 991.2gt3 to name a few. I absolutely love the 997gen gt cars. But, I don't think they are immune to trends and competition.

But, always hard to time exits. Just look at stock market. How many times have you guys timed a sale at the perfect time?

991.2 GT3 manual buyers are not 997 GT3 buyers... two different cars and market.

Now is prime selling time.
This time next year is anybodies guess.

It is a car worth holding onto forever if you can. They age very well.

Cars I am considering:
991.2 GT3, which I would spec manual (depending on how many cars my dealer gets... fingers still crossed)
McLaren 12C
997.1 or .2 GT3

So there is at least some overlap...

at that price point you'd consider .1 RS which would be nice.

to OP: I'd sell now, this is the right time to sell a fun car like a GT3 or a motorcycle. your window is really may, june, after that it trails off a tad.

Just sell it now and take the $ off the table. Probably won't be a life changing swing either way.

My parents cut me off my 3rd year when I came home one weekend with a brand new car. OOPS. Side consulting gig was paying well for a college kid.
