How many 997 GT3/RS owners to get 991.2 manual GT3?
Just what the title says. I don't know how to do a poll.
Clearly there are still dynamic driving differences between the 997 and 991 generations, but now that the .2 GT3 has been announced with proper Motorsport derived 4.0L engine and a great 6-speed manual gearbox option, I'm wondering what percentage of 997 GT3 and/or 997 RS owners will sell their cars to get this newest GT3, for that extra power, a great manual, and a factory warranty for tracking?

Briefly had a chat w/ a friend earlier.
Since the 996 to 991.1 - the newer the model - the more problems.
Too early to tell if reliable enough to "track" but no question it will be the fastest thing since sliced bread, in the GT3 segment.
I would probably consider one for ~6 months, for tracking, if no "chaos" like the 991.1 and then sell however at ~155k bare bones. Get a new gen cup car at about that price - much faster -funner - yada yada. My perspective.

I like the fact that they finally will have a motorsport developed engine. Not sure what's going to happen to the 991.1 GT3 market. My thinking right now is to keep my 997.2. The price difference in trading/buying a 991.2 is probably 60K. Think I could have a lot more fun adding a Cayman S to my garage for the difference in dollars.

I have a 997.2 RS. I've also had a good amount of seat time in both 991.1 GT3 and RS. I'm getting a 991.2 GT3 in manual, but only to add to the 997.2 RS...never to replace as they are two different cars.
I feel that the 997 RS offers a different driving experience, one that doesn't exist in the same form anymore.
Porsche's move in the 991.2 GT3 is an indication that they will continue to produce cars that their customer base wants. On paper (having not driven one myself yet), it is awesome, but I fully expect that a NA Motorsports derived engine with manual transmission/PDK option will continue to be offered for some time. It will continue to evolve and get better, as only Porsche can do.
The 997 RS, however, from its chassis dimensions, mezger engine, SMFW mated to its manual transmission setup, to the actual numbers produced, it will always be special to me and it is a keeper.

Having both a 997.1 in perfect spec. And a 991 gt3RS I can say without question the 997.1 gt3 is a special car. No question it's a unique driving experience and the new 991.2 gt3 will not replace what it offers. Jon in Delaware

Have 997.2 RS. Keeping
Have GT4 ?
Getting 991.2 manual (hopefully) but will have to get rid of GT4. Have mixed feelings.
Had 991.1 GT3 but sold as missed manual. Hopefully new one fixes what I did not like about original 991 3
YMMV

keeping my 997.2 gt3 no matter what.
my daily is a lease so maybe i'll swap that out when it's available. or buy it, and lease a 991.2 gt3.
either way i'm not jumping through any hoops to get one. perfectly happy with the 997.2 gt3 driving experience. 991 is a totally different car.

The new car is really nice, which can't be said about its predecessor. It looks much better, it has the right engine (hopefully!) and transmission.
My 997 is a higher mileage one so on paper it should be an even trade w a new GT3 when you add a few options. But there is zero temptation here. I very much like what I've got. To me the 997 offers the perfect balance of technology and visceral feel. And it's the right size.
The 991 platform has too many gimmicks and the physical appearance of a big car. When I drove a 991 GT3 it did everything too well and I didn't find it engaging enough.
YMMV.

FWIW. I'm not loosing my head going baboons for the new gt3 like i did for the 997 gt3/gt2's. For some reason i keep looking at the Mclarens now days. Best bang for your $. MY rational is - if i'm going to get a car computer to drive fast - i want the best gd car computer for the $ = McLaren.
