short answer -
mpss are a great street tire that can be occasionally tracked
cup 2 are a great track tire that can be driven on the street but not ideal in wet or cold
re71 are a very good cup 2 substitute... much more cost effective but same road use limitations
re11's phased out - 71's better in every regard

Call Damon at Tire Rack. Many times when they show "out of stock" on Cup2's, they actually have a couple of sets squirreled away. Same happened recently with stock on tires for my RS. Worth a shot.
If you do 90% street driving, the MPSS are IMHO the best tires out there. Wear forever; grip like crazy; awesome in the wet. For maintaining the feel of the car as delivered from the factory (likely with MPSC1's), the MPSC2's are fantastic. Amazing grip, useable in the wet, incredible life on the street for what they are. Just a matter of what you want in a tire.

- But would not want to be doing hot laps around the neighborhood to bring up temps on the MSC2.
I am also wondering how much the oe suspension plays into this car's indifference for the street, but I intend to leave the car as is; hence the search for more communicative rubber.
Thanks for commenting on the MPSS.
- Maybe I should get a Miata for Sunday drives.

Unless I have missed something, it appears that your revised tire setup brings an approximate -.6" rake, at the nose, to the party (which seems like alot ).
..((rear +.8) + (front -.7) = 1.2/2 = .6 inch rake))
Did you re-do suspension with this tire setup (&if so how)?
Also, did you experience any fitment issues in terms of camber adjustment or fender/fenderwell contact?
- did this change affect the car's balance on the scales ((did you re-balance)), or was it just an equal f/r trade-up in terms of overall slip?
Many Thanks in advance!!

..with N rating, too
Tire rack is showing these in stock, ink are same sizes as your oem. I've driven mpss and mpsc2 on the street. Mpsc2 better and my preferred option. However in cold weather mpss better traction. Mpss better as well in wet. For the track mpsc2 much better imo (quicker, better response, etc), but mpss may last longer.
Although I searched both ways, I thought Tire Rack's system kicked me out due to lack of N rating, but it looks like these tires are Porsche oe.
I could not find them either way.
Go figure.
Thanks.

Your samples shows 245/30
I have not gone to that Front Tire, yet. That is what I'm going to on the new MPS4 when it comes out.
Currently on 325/30 235/35 MPSS
Not enough front tire for the rear. I do not for-see an issue with 245/35 F.
I have the car in a lowered stance (I think euro spec?) but that was done 4 years ago on stock sized tires. I will realign with the new rubber.

got it.
I thought you 9:52a post meant you had already gone to
325/30 R
245/35 F
BTW, do you have specs for the euro vs US spec?
- Is it a ride height-only difference?
---My bad, it is indeed a 35.
I will redo. lol

shouda been this:
to tell the truth, I was a little intrigued by the possibilities of a 245/30 in terms of ride height adj., turn in, weight dist.
However 245/35 325/30 does still afford a -.2. Almost a quarter inch more neg. rake; which is where I would begin if doing this intentionally.
But the car would need some lowering, at least .5" with these tires.
- still a bit concerned about the fender, no?
Also still wondering if a little less rear tire would benefit understeer.
Very interested to see the euro-spec.
These things are as expensive as Hoosiers!
It will be interesting to see what that SS4 brings to the table.
Esp. with 30k claimed wear.

Check with your local dealer - sometimes they have a few good tires tucked away.
I've had MPSS and MPS2. Like the Supersports better on track and for daily drives.
Couldn't find any SuperSports, nor PS2's available for my rear tires, and went with Bridgestone RE11 - not nearly as good as the Michelins.
The RE71R are very good at autocross though.
