Been thinking about selling my 2007 GT3 to try something different. Mine is a high mileage example with 35k, but very clean.
Do you guys think 997 prices are going to soften when the 991 GT3 arrives with manual transmission? If I sell it would be next spring or summer.
You advice is appreciated.

It will affect 991-1 GT3 values, not 997 GT3 values.
Not exactly apples to apples but look what's happened in the 911 turbo (turbo as in turbo badge on the deck lid
) market once the 991-2 turbos came out. The effect on 997TT was minimal if any. 991-1 dropped.

It would affect the 991.1 GT3.
For a 997.1, it has passed the depreciation curve already and supply and demand dictates a lot of people are wanting a 997. Its price may just be stable though. Then we will see in 5 years.
Why do I think the 997 would have a cult following in the future,
1. It has the Mezger.
2. Its the last of the analogue Porsches.
3. Its the last of the small bodied porsches, and its better looking than a 991 IMO.
4. ITS THE 911 THAT SAVED THE 911.
I would quote Total911, "The 996 is the car that saved PORSCHE, the 997 is the car that saved the 911." This sums it up.

I agree 991.1 GT3 are getting very soft... my co-worker was looking for one for months, could not afford it in the $140k range, picked one up Tuesday with low miles for $123k !! Mint and loaded

If I were in the market for a 997 GT3, I would buy BEFORE the 991.2 is released. For one, the worst is that it would appreciate in value or its value would be thesame. Nothing to loose to buy a 997 now.

For the .2 GT3 affecting the 911R, hard to say. For me, i dont care about the 911R. Its a mistake corrected for the 991 being without a manual. Its only because its 900 pieces thats why prices are high. And you know how some people value exclusivity.
But for value, I would rather have a Singer than a 991R. Just my 2 cents.

I think about 3-6 months after the .2 releases we can see some big swing prices and thats when to buy it. I would be in the market for one again to add but not to replace.

997gt cars are great and have a special place in the 911 lineup. They might dip a little after the 991.2gt3 release.
Next time we get harder finacial times there is no interest rate to fix it. Thats a good time to have cash and pick up cars.
I still think we have a couple of good years ahead of us where car values are staying stabil. Then a dip and then higher than today's values, If we are allowed to drive them?
If anyone has a crystal ball to predict the timing of these events please share them via PM.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
