997.2 GT3, a sunny afternoon, some twisty roads, and almost no other cars to contend with....
yea, after a very annoying work week, feeling a bit better about things.

a significant drop in 997.2 RS prices would be about the only thing that would tempt me to sell this car.

Why I know the 997 GT3 is truly a special car? Because I have no desire for any other car in the world. And that's not going to change. I've never owned an F car or any other exotic for that matter as some of you have, and it's encouraging to hear those who have experienced ownership of such cars still hold the Mezger GT3's so high. And that's not going to change. My GT3 is not a daily driver but kept in a garage at the track; but you all know what I'm feeling as I make the drive to the track for a weekend. There is no better past time and I'm just blessed to have the opportunity to own one of these special cars. My GT3 is a beast on the track as it is as light as one can make it; striped interior with all original parts in boxes (doubt it will ever go back in), plexiglass windows, exterior all original except Cup wing. Powered by 997.2 RS Mezger, with the weight of the car, it does a fine job of surprising the 991 GT3 and RS owners as it goes past them. And as you all mention, the savage sound of the Mezger is amplified when there isn't any interior insulation. And the handling is light and nimble. Do I really care about if and when this car will be a collectible someday; nope, but it will be well maintained at the highest level so that it will last my lifetime.

Forgot to mention that I liked this article, but hope it doesn't keep these cars away from the track. And too many worry much about who will be the next owner, certainly not my concern.

Am still trying to understand the 9a1 engine as it relates to Porsche Motorsport. The Mezger still being utilized in the top level GT racing - through the end of the year. The GTR3R now racing with some version of the 9a1 - but how significantly different is it from the street GT3. The new GT3RSR will be out next year - with what engine? If the new GT3 991.2 utilizes the same engine then I become more interested. The Motorsport connection is important to me. The 991.1 seems to have strayed away from that ethos.

^ There's good speculation that the RSR is moving towards mid-engined and quite possibly turbocharged.

Meanwhile, the new .2 Cup is using some evolution of the MA176 engine in the RS.

Given the trickling down of technology in the Porsche hierarchy, it's safe to speculate the .2 GT3 will run an engine evolved from the familiar territory of the MA175/176...
