Cup Uprights on a 997-2 GT3RS
I've been looking for a way to increase the height of my rear wing for some time now. Couple of reasons for it - a) the wing is a lot more effective in cleaner air and b) I'd like to actually be able to see out of the rear view mirror!
There is an aftermarket solution but it's way above what I feel comfortable spending on this project. After speaking with bmwtye in Monterey last month I decided to order a set of 997-2 GT3 Cup uprights and play with them.
So today my friend Tony (cobalt on Rennlist) and I spend some time and got it done. His expertise in metal working and a garage full of exotic measuring instruments and pneumatic tools made this possible.
The end result is an OEM look and a whopping 4.5" rise of the rear wing. It looks spectacular in person. The pictures don't do it justice but here are a few...

A couple of people have contacted me about making these uprights for them. If there is enough interest perhaps we could get some more made, just let me know.

Looks great.
For those asking. The modification is to the top of the upright to allow the oem RS wing to attach to it. You cut the upper portion of the upright to match the factory angle of attack (Using the front upper portion as a starting point, you will cut across in a slight incline following the wing angle) (see attached pic of cut cup upright)
With the modified cup uprights, the wing is 11cm (4.3 inches) higher at the mounting points and 8.4cm (3.3 inches) further back with relation to the stock wing

The next step if you want to take this farther is the cup wing end plates. They increase the effectiveness of the wing tremendously (they are larger in surface are and have most of the area under the wing). To use these you will need to drill new mounting holes in them to match the holes in the RS Wing, and fill the original holes.
You can see the end plates here on my car. I also added a 10mm gurney flap to the edge of the wing, and adjusted the wing end plates up 10mm to match.

Looks great to me, but the natural question to rise is what effect will it have (impact) on aero-balance of 997.2 GT3RS (Porsche has for sure tested it in aero-tunnel or something... spending lots of Euros). Do you plan something in front to compensate the bigger down force in the rear (I guess judging by appearance of the "new" wing that it has to generate greater down force)?

The cup front lip is enough to balance it out. Look at the 2010+ cup cars. The wing is bigger and they just run the cup lip.
Dive planes are a good addition. I have the orbit dive planes which flare out a bit more than the 4.0 ones , but either are a good solution.
