Info on upcoming GT2
Don't know if this has been common knowledge before now:
Will be 4-wheel drive. Front axle is electric only. 780hp. Faster than 918.
Should apparently not be announced for sale for some theme yet, to avoid clashing with 918 customers, who recently have paid several times GT2 price for a to-be slower car.
3RS will be released on next Geneva. GT2 further out than that apparently.

If a theoretical GT2 equipped as you described laps the ring faster than a 918 I'll eat my phone. 1/4 mile is not end all be all.
However, 997 GT2RS (though heavy) was as fast if not faster than a CGT sooooo

I would think of trading my GT2 for that monster. I have gotten used to PDK - doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I don't like the AWD part, but with that kind of HP it will likely need it. I guess with a further tune you could get close to 900 hp. crazy.
I asked my dealer for a slot. They said they gave one to me, but I am sure they will offer all the slots up to the 918 guys. It will be interesting to see how many GT2s they produce. My guess will be very limited numbers unlike the GT3 RS which they seem to just be printing money with.

Not sure how you inferred that. Actually would be the exact opposite. There are manual clutches that can handle that kind of HP. It's the PDK clutch packs and actuators that can't.

What transmission is in the 918 Spyder - wouldn't they use that given it is effectively a hybrid? Thats what I was thinking/inferring...

Yeah I thought about that too but given the MR vs RR layout it certainly isn't plug and play.

is there enough space in the 991.2 body to fit electric motor and battery?
i was expecting for this to happen in 992 but not in 991... you sure this is not a potential 992 mule you seeing getting testing?

Seems logical, but was just told RS is going to gva, he didn't know of non-rs status.
