Track season is here. The new GT4 in underrated in terms of power from the factory. I would like some extra ponies to keep the GT4 guys in the rear view mirror.
I do not mind catless (I actually prefer catless, therefore no cat failure issues). I have a lift therefore swapping on/off headers back to OEM is no big deal, however. I'm looking to get FACTS of which headers are the ones to get for the $, that produce tq+hp. Anyone have dyno graphs ? I will NOT get an ecu tune. Not looking to go that far.
RK headers are out of the question at close to $7k. My ego is not that big.
I use the factory 100 cell cup car headers, side deletes, stock center muffler
Get a Cobb tune. It turns off the light :-). Is tuned very safe, not agressive On 91 you see modest gains
On 100.....
Put it this way Martin doesn't pull me except on corner entry doing 4 wheel slides to apex....because he's insane.
Bbi makes very nice long tube headers but on a stock motor the gains are going to be similar to what I have.
Below are fuel numbers and tune with the setup above. I do not have a no header baseline. But Cobb does on their site for the stage 1 graphs
Spyerx, is that with Martin driving his .2 RS or his GT4 ? 408 whp is very nice.
So the main difference between the cup headers and street headers is 400 cell vs. 100 cell cats ?
I don't think the RK header is that expensive at 7k? The expensive part from my understanding is the bypass valve option, and the 321SS requirements.
I am a cheap guy and not making enough as a mechanical engineer to keep up with the latest Porsche models each year, but I was sold by the dyno result.
There is no cheap header make good power and last while light. My s2k single header is at $1500 range and this is my reference point, a well know jdm brand still snapped at track!
3 years ago I had deleted side muffler and it is one of the best mod for track. And the RK header with center muffler is quite enough for my townhouse living.
So far no cel without cat with stock Ecu
The important thing for headers that make power is the delta from the start. Also consider materials, workmanship and livability. The Dundon Motorsports headers mate with the factory center muffler and do not drone. It's not about ego, it's about value for money. $5000 for a droning system than makes 10whp isn't worth your time. $6950 for a setup that doesn't drone, makes an honest 26whp. We also have a number of supporting mods on the way to get even more power...
No tune necessary for power.

His GT4, about 1/2 way down the straight I'll be pulling him but he's just too ***** in the corners. His .2RS hasn't been on track in a year but that car is a little faster on straights. .2 non-RS are basically same as mine. That's why I like all the guys getting GT4, I have people to play with. 991GT3 are just too fast.
Basically cup header is a 100 cell design, the collector may be a little different (I need to look again). I'll guess Jamies headers make more power. The big advantage of these cars is removing the cat cork, use the stock center, get a tune to optimize the new flow.

For anyone in Cali or wanting to keep OEM cats the pmna 100cell cat headers side delete and stock center with the BBI tune makes about 10whp and 5-7lb ft over stock. I had one customer here with that setup to compare to. This is on a .2RS
i dont konw whats on spyerX car. but i can assure you it's more than 10hp than stock
anything less than 25 hp gain at the wheel is useless.
i felt it on his car.
i saw dundon header, link pipe in person last week. jewelry quality. good stuff. and very raw raspy cool souding, no drone and not going to blow your ears out either. the one i saw had the valve option. good work charles
A dyno war thread is one of those where someone says "everyone post your gt3 dynos" that turns into a war and everyone bragging about who got the highest number.
RK really appreciate the information you have provided however let's keep this thread on track. As much as I like your headers at 7k equates $300 a hp. At that price I can buy material to built 5 sets of headers myself and find out via dyno if they work or not, however. I don't want to go down that path. I just want to get what's good for the money off the shelf. I can live with getting 20whp vs 30. I only need a wee bit to keep gt4s at bay.
