Thanks for all your feedback and I find it interesting on the overwhelming favor for the RS, and I would love to know what is making everyone choose to keep the RS over the 991
Ideally both cars in your stable would be 1st prize

Had .1RS and now have 991 GT3. 997.1 RS just didn't do it for me. Granted I still have 997.2 GT3 but I'd trade the 997.1RS (least special/least differentiated RS of the newer gen) for a 991 GT3 all day.

Perhaps ask on the 991 GT3 board?
Just to balance out the bias, if nothing else.

It depends on what type of experience you want. Either mechanical/analog involvement go for the 997.1RS. If you looking for eye watering, finger blistering (from pushing the shift button
) speed to conquer the tracks go for the 991 GT3.
997.1RS any day, the 991.1gt3 will get hammered on price long term and viewed as the ugly duckling with its engine woes. Alot of people will dump the 2014/2015 991GT3 as soon as the warranty period is up, no question about that. Do not know how that would effect 2016 value though.

I have a 997.1 GT3. I have a 991 base manual for my DD purposes, and have driven a 991 GT3 for an extensive amount of time. The 991 GT3 is very fast and capable but it is dry and uninvloving. It is not even close to extracting the best out of the driver like the 997 can. I would not do it. Ask yourself this: Why were you offered that deal? Because the person on the other side values the 997 more.
Some people think they can handle a manual gearbox when they deep down know they can't. It is not about shifting 'right' or rev matching, there is an art to it. The 997 is the canvas for that art. Long live the GT1 block and the 997 chassis. The greatest driving machine for any era (save the 996 RS).

I just went from a 997.1RS to a '16 GT3. As others have said, if you want involvement and the ability to have drama anytime you want, keep the RS. If you want sophisticated, newer tech, warranty and more unassuming, get the GT3. I'm not completely sold on my decision yet. But, like you, I started to look at my RS like an asset and questioned every mile I put on it and every time I wanted to take it to the track.

On the other hand, i should drive it and enjoy it and if it looses some value in the future, who cares..... My intention was never to turn this into an investment.
And if the 991 GT3 does not give that same level of buzz as the RS, then it would be silly to make a switch now.
I do know that different cars do different things to people and I respect that, for me the RS would be a great loss if I sold it ... Now or possibly in the future.

Your silver/black RS is beautiful more pics when you have time please and don't trade, that would be insanity. Enjoy your current RS for another year or two and use it as a platform to get into the new 991 model RS.

Find a 997.1 GT3 you like and sell your RS. Money in your pocket and the same basic driving experience. Same drivetrain. You will lose the boy racer looks of the RS with its color, graphics, 1.7 inch wider ***, and bodacious wing.

OP - just curious, have you driven the 991 GT3? If not see if you can drive it for a while; might help with your decision and then again it might not.
I'm no GT3 expert by any means, but first time I drove the 991 GT3 I loved it, second time, I still loved it, third time, it was more like been there done that, exhilarating yet predictable (still a great, great car though but I no longer pursued it). Don't think you will get the been there done that with your 7.1 RS IMHO.
