Default 7.1 & 7.2 GT3/RS Prices

I've started my search for an unmolested 7.2 GT3RS a few months back & been trending prices on Autotrader & e-bay & it appears that prices are starting to cool down a bit

I assume this is due the release of the new 991 GT3RS, GT4, 911R rumors, & confirmation of a manual drive 991.2 GT3s.

Can't wait till I'll find my next lover

i think another thing is the weather, it's no longer good driving season and as you get closer to the the holidays, people focus their extra money elsewhere.

As the US/Chinese economies slow down, I hope people will start liquifying their depreciative assets over to me

I respectfully disagree gentlemen. Look more closely at the examples on the market - there hasn't been a truly great (check all of the boxes - low mileage, high spec, clean DME, desirable color, etc) car for sale in some time. When those hit the market, they are priced at the very top end of the range and sell very quickly. The cars that languish, be they RS or any other model, are either "tweeners" due to mileage, spec, color, a story - that are still trying to achieve A+ prices; or they have something seriously wrong with them that means they sell only when the price is just too attractive to pass up.

I feel that there are still more buyers for A/A+ level cars looking that can't find them then there are cars to be bought; and likewise, too many B/B+ cars priced too optimistically that may continue to languish through the inevitably slower winter months.

I would agree with the original poster.

Mooty - you are being selective with options . There are a ton of cars for sale in the shadows but generally at the wrong price.

Fact is there are a lot of mothballed rs out there. Last winter prices spiked for low mile (collector) cars that are very special. Like pts etc. not the standard grey/black or white cars.

Meanwhile the marginal buyers bought some (often at a premium) and used leverage. Now they want their price or they won't sell.

Will rs come down some big %? No.

But there is a difference between a pts 3k mile Zanzibar, a 10k mile grey/black and a 30k mile white/red. You feel me? (Coincidentally I don't think there is much of a bid for the latter)

Prices cool down? I have not seen any evidence of this.
Prices have topped out and overprice cars have adjusted.
Good cars are still moving.

Inventory is still low.
Prices are still high.

This time of year less people are looking for a car. March is typically when people start looking.

Are these cars high beta -- connected to stock market? Stock market has been very volatile, acting funny... If there were a big dump, would prices come off? I would watch thru 1Q 16, maybe get a dip.

A low mileage pumpkin just sold at auction two weeks ago for $259k. Not sure what your definition of cooling down is.

You can buy a clean 10k mile .2 rs for 180 all day long. They are well offered there. (Which means the real price is lower)

Let's not start talking our books here.

RS will hold their values long term, just keep waiting, NA engine with manual transmission are dinosaur material, there is no reason that their prices will not go up.
I may have to stop tracking mine one day.

If anything I think it's seasonality. Clean cars will hold value and possibly appreciate going forward.

One would have to think that the "last manual transmission" thing may work against it if and when Porsche really announce the availability of the .2 RS with a M/T. I don't think the RS cars will ever fall into the gutter but they may hold at the current levels for a while before creeping back down a bit. Dow was at 16K last month and everyone panicked, now its back up just under 18K. The market and the car market makes no rational sense...
