So a buyer on the forum, bought my Paddle shift steering wheel. I sold it for $700 ...a steal and $100 less than asking. I tell him I think shipping is around $20... It turns out it's $30 and he says he will send the $10. The wheel is delivered 4 days later. Well guess what, I followed up to make sure he received what he expected and reminded him of my latte $$. Zero response. I don't need the $10, but it's the principle. He clearly has none. What happened to do what's right???

there is a reason i dont sell/buy from new members.
when you hang out here long enough, you have a reputation.
but whoever you dealt with, that's not cool to short $10.

ditto .... sour experience, had a similar experience the buyer worked me down and then claimed they forgot that there would be import duties from CAN to USA and tried to nab me for the entire amount

HeyCary ... Don't burn him him too bad.

Heck I almost sent the the wheel and was willing to accept gift payment on PayPal. I'm so glad I didn't.

When I was 21 before Paypal existed , I bought parts for my Miata and the guy said to just send me a check after you get them. I did ... That is called trust among car guys. That was on a Miata forum.

Shady behavior on this site lately, more so than before.

Lots of people asking tons of questions with no money, saying they will take something and not paying, selling stuff that is defective, etc.

Some forums have a running post where that is all labeled out and people get whittled down

i prefer buying/selling in person if at all possible - even with 100 pictures it's challenging to ensure expectations are met on both ends. In the end...10 bucks, they shoulda just pp-ed it.

He didn't even respond when I asked if he was happy with it. Which he should have been, bc it was brand new in a Porsche box .

On a more positive note, and as a newer 2007 GT3 owner, I just sold cats from my previously owned 03 C4S via RL site, and he not only immediately sent me a check for $400 as we agreed, but sent another check for (close to $90) the shipping charges I incurred.
I also recently identified a 991 GT3 owner selling used 100mm SW tips, and in the end I decided to buy new 88mm ones from SW, and he was also another good Porche person.
Depends on the person you are dealing with. After 5+ years owning Porches, I am still leaning to the positive side of every Porche owner I have met.

That's my point!!! We all share a common passion and a level of honesty should follow that.

I've done a ton of buying and selling via Rennlist.
never had a problem, but be aware of new members or new users.. Paypal offers some security but long time members and often friends met in person or known via via makes this a great place to buy and sell.

This is to bad, $10 is not much money, but it is the principal.

There folks here who are more than honorable, and a few who are significantly less so...

It's good to know who to avoid...
