Gallardo is a nice street car. Audi reliable but flashy good looks. Also good idea about dedicated track E36M3. No point using the Gallardo on track except for parade laps.

Every car enthusiast has to be a current or prior Italian car owner. Really no way around it.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I really miss the 3 but I'm enjoying this experience as well, as its so different than what I have grown used to. Part of the reason I decided to part with the GT3 was that I just couldn't relax tracking it. I'm super conservative and just didn't really enjoy being out there, with the risks floating around in the back of my head.

Plus, if I'm honest with myself, it was way too much car for a track newbie. I'm going to start with something less expensive to run (and replace, if need be), and a used boxster or e36 should fit the bill nicely. Something with a roached out interior so I can strip it without second thoughts and install my sparco's that I kept!

If anyone is interested, I chronicled my roadtrip on the lambo-talk forum:

I've toyed with getting an E36M3 DE car myself, they aren't that expensive and are still fun to drive, and also capable with keeping up with various cars depending on track configuration.

I had an e36 m3 and absolutely loved it. What I mostly loved was the massive aftermarket parts market and availability of cheap spares (even most of the bodywork is interchangeable with most of the 3 series cars).

I'm about 1 day away from closing a deal on a 3 pedal F 360.

Not completely sure i believe the (all cost the same +/- $10k) statement though,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
at least not for comparable condition cars.

cheers

Craig
The 3 pedal 360 is one of the very best driving cars. Little effort in rowing through the cars and a total icon!! Congrats on (hopefully) your new purchase!

Agree. My only real complaint was that when driving in a straight line and you move the wheel back and forth quickly, there is a ton of body roll. But then again I'm comparing it to the gt3, which when shod with Michelin tires exhibits almost none under the same situation! the lambo is no better, which leads me to belive I just became spoiled by driving gt cars.

Enjoy the new super car. I am a newer 997.1 GT3 owner and love all of what is to love of the GT3s.
Lambo s are very cool. Ive seem them race in person on the Tudor series and even watch the Trefero races on TV when they are televised. Just very cool cars and if the race like the Porches then they are good enough for most of us.
Maybe find a lower priced 996 turbo or even a 4S just to have a Porche on the side.

Congrats! It is going to take something really special from Porsche to get me out of my RWD MT Gallardo...

The only thing that really sucks about Lamborghinis are the owners.

Very true. Definitely a different flavor of owner community. I actually like the group on lambo talk, but was very turned off by the lambo power crowd. They are not all bad over there but boy does it seem like the majority are constantly disparaging (and not in a joking or good natured way) other Marques, their owners, and the large group they refer to as "dreamers." Can't stomach that group for very long but there seems to be a good sized contingent on lambo talk that are true enthusiasts who diy and share knowledge.

Can't wait to convert to rwd. Did you convert it or do you have a factory 2? BALBONI or anniversario?

Agreed! Why are they on the 997 GT forum?

Because lambo owners that also appreciate a high revving mezger flat six are different than the overwhelming majority of lambo owners!

Honestly, I hold that opinion about most single marque enthusiasts. People stuck like that are quite myopic.
