Removing factory RS graphics ?
Hi Guys ,
Sorry if this is a topic covered before , but I haven't seen it if it has . Thinking about a '10 or '11 RS and am not crazy about the left rear quarter ''GT3RS'' graphics - has anyone here removed them and if so how did you go about it and was it possible to do so w/o damage to the paint ? I like the flag ''swoosh '' on the sides and the inner RF wing reminds me of my 911 Clubsport graphics on the LF . I know removing factory applied decals is not to be taken lightly for originality's sake as well as the horrific cost of replacement at the Porsche parts counter .
Thanks in advance .

park the car in the sun, heat gun on low or blow dryer and it'll come off, then use goo-gone.
personally i would only take them off if i had another set of OEM ones on hand to re-apply for originality sake in case you wish to sell the car.

Thanks for the advice. I was at the Porsche dealer parts counter last winter and the parts manager told me he just ordered a set of decals for an ' 11 which I seem to recall being a non-standard color and the set was 4K . Certainly makes you think twice .

i believe the company above is unable to use any of the porsche names such as GT3 or GT3RS or even porsche, that's why you don't see that in their kits.
4K for the kit? sheesh - def makes you think twice. I really believe you could go to an indy shop and have the make quality 3M vinyl for you much much less, they might need your old graphics as a template.

As I say I believe the 4K was a complete kit for an '11 and wasn't in a standard color ( was it only red and white gold ? ) so that must play into it . It was for a PTS car that non-standard colored graphics . Nice to see the Genuine side ones available from Suncoast for the 07/08 cars at a reasonable amount .

Stanard graphics are gold or red. I'm not sure I have seen non standard colors from the factory. Any good graphics shop will and can make these foe much less than Porsche will charge. There is no secret to vinyl graphics.
I personally don't like the graphics on any of these cars. The 07/08 are the least over the top and reference a more classic look used on 911 going way back. The cars could be optioned with graphics delete. Additionally over time it will cause some paint fade.

I took the graphics off my .1. I like it much better (but my 9 year old hates it without the boy racer look).
Here is a "before" pic.
Yes, I need to update my avatar.

Here's the same car with and without graphics. The PO had installed a Ki Studios set but I prefer the clean, unadorned look and removed them shortly after I bought the car. They weren't on the car long enough to affect the paint.
Ki makes beautiful graphics but they no longer offer the correct appearing OEM style ones any longer. I assume they received a visit or a nasty letter from the "Porsche Polizei"....

1) generally it's easier to look at more often without them. Certainly they look great if you look or drive the car very infrequently, but for most it becomes a little too much it seems. (Everyone is different )
2) when you go to sell the car it will be a problem.
I would consider 1 and 2 and then either say "f it" and do it anyway or just get a non rs car.
