There is some frame damage on the passenger side front rail.

The full leather interior is covered in 20 oz of coffee as well.

DME should be fine, has a SW bypass on it too. Otherwise stock w/ PCCB.

You read my mind. I have a rebuilder/dealer license and thought it would make a nice keeper if I could repair it or at the least should have a good drivetrain for resale. Sorry about your loss. Looks like it was a really nice GT3.

If it can be rebuilt, I was thinking more of just a project car and nice street cruiser. Closest track is 100 miles away. If the bid war continues much higher, Im done. Copart is not one of my favorite auctions to deal with.

At my office, I setup a study to conduct how information gets around misrepresented. I started off by writing it down, then I told individual A.

I believe individuals here are more concerned/want to know more information with the condition of the vehicle, if it's a good buy, rather then knowing about insurance issues. Sucks on the insurance issue. I had one myself a few years back with another vehicle.

I didn't want the car repaired, of course.

I was pleased with the valuation offered for the total loss.

I spent the check and the proceeds from the sale of my 993 on my 991 GT3.

As for buying it back, I don't have the space/inclination for a purely track toy at the moment. It would make a good track car, however.

The car was up for auction once before, about a month ago. Price was in the $40s, and it didn't sell.

IMO it's very questionabe that car is a total loss. I'm a retired 33-year Automobile Claims Manager for a major insurer (actually, the company that handled this loss...) and I was shocked when I read the Copart detail sheet. It indicates the repair estimate was $440,449 which has to be a misprint. Even 10% of that figure seems high unless there is considerable hidden damage or damage that isn't evident in the photos. The accident did deploy the driver's airbag and that is big $$$ on a Porsche.

Georgia law provides for mandatory diminished value and that may have been a factor in why this GT3 was totalled. I am curious as to who prepared the estimate (the shop or the insurer's appraiser) and what local body shop would have done the repairs. There are a (very) few high-end shops in the Atlanta area that could do a proper "invisible" repair on this car. There is no hard and fast rule regarding the percentage of repair cost vs. the ACV (actual cash value) to total a vehicle but generally, it would take around 25% repair cost/ACV to render a higher end car like this an obvious total loss. Note that the latest the salvage bid is $38,250 which is approaching 50% of ACV - which is why I question if this car really should have been totalled. Good for the owner, may be good for the insurer if the salvage bids continue to escalate.

IMO this would be a great car to repair but unfortunately it will carry a branded salvage title for life which will forever adversely affect it's resale value.

if someone has the means to repair this as a track *itch, then a good buy. Fix up the tub, get it straight, fiberglass parts to fix the bent metal, strip her down, etc. Otherwise not due to the branded title. Maybe in 30 years that doesn't matter as much.
