Default would 255/30r19's work on 8.5 front wheels?

As stated above, just wondering if I could run 255/30r19's up front on 8.5" wide wheels. And if possible would it really give any grip benefit over the 235/35r19's I am currently running?

Car is a 2007 GT3.

Tire in question is Yoko AD08 which I think would make a good street tire.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Cheers,
Chris

hi chris,

most probably not.
you would need bigger wheels.
then, the car is not engineered for them which will throw out all the suspension geometry.
and that's if they did clear the guards.
do you really need more grip? try some different tyres, or a semi-race suspension set-up.

I had 255 r6's on my 6gt3 on stock 8.5 rim. Nope u do not gain any more grip maybe less. Felt like the tires were sloshing around the track. 245 works better on 8.5. Mike
