Default The lip on 4.0 RS

Is the lip on gt3rs 4.0 the same as other lips (3.8rs, gt3 or cup etc.) or is it a unique part? I thought this was supposed to be cheap but I am being quoted nearly 500 bucks for it. What gives?

It is the same lip and it DOES cost a couple hundred. Cheap? Sure, the OEM 7.2 part actually IS cheaper than the 7.1 lip+"tongue"--the latter costs $500 by itself!

You do feel the front grip when you have the cup lip + 4.0 canards. Dial your rear wing up a notch to compensate.

The cup lip actually provides more downforce over the standard 997.1 lip?

Yes. Specifically the cup lip without the air ducts.
From some measurements the shop guys have done... the ducts don't really increase the cooling efficiency of the brakes, but the lack of ducts does help with front downforce.

Interesting, are there published numbers on downforce for standard 997.1 lip with vents vs cup lip with no vents?

Porsche claim 22 pounds of downforce @ 186mph on the front for a standard 997.1 GT3. Don't know about the cup lip.

Does anyone know the part numbers of all the pieces that the lip touches? I am thinking of replacing the wheel arch trip and the place where the lip joins under body. Not sure why but want that whole area to be shiny again.
