Yes 100% identical. Well the plug is. The box doesn't have the porsche part number.
Y5dcc is the correct plug for the 07-8

Not 100% identical.
The original has what I think is a slightly better shaped contact tips but however there's absolutely zero difference in function from my experience.

Interesting. I have a set installed by a Porsche dealer and the ones I pulled out were identical to the non Porsche ones I put in. Wonder if they had a change at some point. Even the Markings on the ceramic are the same.

plugs can look the same, but have different "heat" ranges. A plug has to get hot enough to burn fuel carbonized deposits off the electrode insulators. Not "hot" enough, the plug gets fouled, too "hot" and it can cause pre-ignition, or at least that is way i remember it when i was choosing plugs for my built Cobra's motor. Plugs for street engines are a compromise. As for alternate plugs for our motors, I have no suggestion.

All the best...

In this case the number "5" in the Y5DDC is the heat range.

Maybe the dealer is increasing their profit margin by buying plugs off the internet!

True, but the Y5DDC is the proper plug for our GT3's. No reason to use anything else.

Excellent point. I noticed this as well when I changed my plugs last week. The tips where quite tight and I couldn't make them budge. So, I stuck with how the new plugs came. Ran the car over the weekend and she was very happy .
