I'm taking my 997.2 GT3 into Sharkwerks in about 5-6 weeks to have coolant pipes pinned, RSSs mounts installed, and oil cooler pipes replaced.
Have been looking at their other available modifications. Anyone here transitioned from the stock dual mass flywheel to the lightweight RS flywheel and clutch? If so, what are your thoughts? Advantages? Disadvantages? Any need to change the pulley as was necessary on 997.1 cars?

no disadvantage other than noisy.
with regard to pulley issue, ask alex. he's done way too many of these things. whatevver he says, i would just do it.
when you get your oem flywheel out. pls pm wooge or woogie. he wants oem flywheel

I'm getting similar work done next week.
What about the harmonics issues that I read about on here once in a while? 3.6 is ok with LWFW but the 3.8 not always?
I would love to swap to LWFW. It suits the car better and is even easier to drive in town for me. But I put a lot of miles on my car and reliability is very important to me.

Search; there is lots of info on this topic. 997.2 needs updated actuators and/or the ATI harmonic dampener; after doing neither and having the actuator bolts back out, I did both and for reliability still went back to the stock DMFW. The increase in noise is fairly significant; not an issue on track, a nuisance on the street.

If u do mainly street I stick with double mass. For street lwf is kinda useless with increased chatter at idle. Doesn't bother me with the chatter but it's a regular 6gt3- don't have to worry if whatever actuator bolts come loose. Mike

Motor revs quick, you have to blip gas to let out clutch, it's part of the experience, ie good times! all good!! Dual mass is for inertia when letting clutch out!
Noise, what's that, exhaust and cup cables, gear whine! My son thinks he's in a race car! Priceless!
He only wants to ride in the 911sc targa when it's hot or his buddies want to ride along, other than that it's, GT3!

There appears to be a dependence on displacement and weight of the pistons; increased combustion-induced harmonics have been correlated with higher displacement. Search for posts by Jamie.
