You have a high maint lady to take care of

1k? Maybe. Seems (or maybe feels) a little low honestly when you factor in everything. Gas, hotel, food, reg fees, if you get it insurance, tires, brakes, regular maintenance, preventive maintenance, cool cheater parts you gotta have, gadgets, wife spending (spas, massages, facials) while at track...etc....

But for non over the top de I think it is doable.

don't forget the tow vehicle & trailer. A good 50% of our local group bring their car on a trailer. We like to stay on track and we have 2 cars. So motorhome and stacker trailer, adds $$$

back when i was doing DE, i was running michelin cup tires or nitto tires on my 996 gt3 and race boxster. It also depends if you want to win your DE.

now that we race only, we run stickier tire to be competitive. Still, my dad in gtb1 runs hoosier r6/r7 and top drivers in his class run michelin slicks. So, its hard for him to keep up with the top drivers.
I run in stock class, so everyone is *pretty equal *

my car never breaks. Only expense is pretty much tires and fuel.

we're not playing curling here, cars is an expensive hobby.

Well, I've been doing this for two years and have never before put a number to it. Those two years were in a .1 TT tip, not a GT3. That car was bullet proof and my only expense was basically fuel and tires. I think I've got the GT3 ready to go for February.

I really like the advice of not adding it up or setting aside a lump sum for expenses. It is what it is. And anything could happen. Just take it one DE at a time and enjoy the hell out of it.

And I've been reading up on the LSD for the GT3 on this site. One guy posted that it will be required to rebuild about every 5-10 DE events. Is that true? That appears to be an annual expense for sure.

i would say that it all depends on how hard you drive the car.
if its 7/10 on track and you're more(let's go to the track and have fun with my buds) then, 5-10 events is really low.

3-4 sets of 600 dollar scrubs, two sets of pads, one set of blank rotors, tank of gas a day, 4 fluid changes. Maybe 4k total A year for 8-10 DE. I instruct so I don't pay for track time which helps.

Help yourself out here.!!!

Don't focus on the money, focus on the thrill and excitement you get tracking your car..
Spending time away from work doing something you really enjoy..

As far as I'm concerned this experience is priceless...

How about track insurance? I've contemplated going down this rabbit hole with a car but may just stick to paid/insured bikes for half the cost.

That's impressive since COTA track fees are 400-500 a day. Gas is probably 80 a day leaving 200-300 for everything else.

My costs are similar to yours, will shift a bit depending in the track/event fees.

That's kinda crazy. I'm almost a grand a day with casual tracking of my s2000 on street tires. 500 track fee (mooty day or 2 run groups), 100 on gas, maybe 100$ in tires pro-rated, pads/rotors/fluids/clutch etc. pro-rated maybe 200 a day.

When I talked to guys at BR they told me that tracking my GT3 would probably double/triple that easily. That being said you can do yourself some favors in the long run with like 18" wheels.

I'm a damn CPA and I refuse to add the numbers up. Just block out the numbers and enjoy yourself...you only live once.
