If only to have a choice of one it would be the GT2 hands down.
That being said, what are you planning on doing with the car?
The 930 is the garage queen sunday driver.
The 991GT3 is the daily driver and an easy track day hero.
The GT2 is the last of the manual GT cars and is good on the street (as far as sticks go) and is a weapon at the track....

out of the cars you listed I only have experience in a stock 86 930. I have to admit it was art to look at but is disappointing to drive. I felt the turbo lag was too great and the car wasn't fun to drive for me.
I'd pick the GT2
I'd pick the GT2

997 GT2 > 991 GT3
I have yet to drive my 997 GT2, but hear from others it is exactly what I was looking for:
- new driving experience with stick and turbo
- exclusive enough and the relative "value" choice for last of the great manual Mezger engines
- no CL's to worry about for the long term unlike 7.2 GT3s
Can't wait to do a write up about how I feel about both cars after enough seat time in the GT2.

Hey all,
Looking for some feedback on a potential purchase and these are the three 911's I want most.
991 GT3 - Latest and greatest, maybe last of the NA GT's?
930 - Childhood dream. Want one before they get out of reach. Kinda there already.
997gt2 - Mezger turbo, stick GT. Best appreciation?

If you are only buying one of these, I'd say go for the 2. Best all-around car, especially if you intend to drive both on track and street. Does well in cars-n-coffee events too.

All nice cars. GT2 for me.
- Rarest of the bunch by far (with no plans for future 2's on horizon)
- Most under valued GT car by far at the moment (nowhere to go but up).
- Amazing power yet agile and absolute thrill to drive
- Good balance of street and track
- Stick
- Mean looking
They come in lots of colors (Black, Red, White, Silver, Orange, Blue, Yellow...) But with just over 200 in the U.S., you'll have to be diligent to find something other than Black or White. Was a gorgeous Yellow one for sale in Oklahoma. I think it and a Red one are now on consignment at a high-line Houston shop.

2nd and subsequent owners of a 997 GT2 know there is no better bang for the buck than that. Buy $0.60 on the dollar vs new and usually extremely low mileage, great power for the track and street, Turbo widebody, rarely see another in the same color (or at all)... Any one of those reasons are enough to convince a sane person to buy, add them all together and the choice is clear especially when you realize you can't get into anything better for twice the money.

That's it! With all this great feedback, I'm moving on a GT2. Lemme know if you guys know of a good one.
Am I worried about range 4 over revs? Seems like DME's for GT2's look a bit worse than GT3's on average.

Don't worry about Range 4. Even 5 is OK for the most part. Just have a good PPI done.

I think going with the GT 2 is a good choice.
The first decision would be whether to go for an older car or a newer one. I appreciate my older 911 for the older car experienced. It can still hold its own against some more modern cars. It is event to drive. The newer cars are easier to drive.
As far as the newer cars, I am gravitating towards the GT 2. The GT 3 is an awesome car. The handling is beyond belief. He has a very nice engine note. The PDK transmission is fantastic. I think it is one of the best looking 911's ever.
All that said, I think I like the GT 2 better. The handling may not be as good, but is still more than acceptable The engine note may not be as good. But I do like having a transmission and power the scar produces is downright scary. It is truly like an amusement park ride when you stomp on throttle. Driving a turbo vs an NA car takes some getting used to, but is part of the fun. The rarity of the car is nice. I have found that when I go out to the barn to get a car to go for a drive, this is the one I gravitate to.

Tough choices.
I love the 930 and unlike others I actually find it to be more enjoyable to drive on the street as you can use more of the power band without getting silly fast. I find my GT3 is simply too much power for tooling around on public roads and you simply cannot use much of it. The problem with the 930 is it is becoming so valuable it is more risky to drive and therefore is not a good DD. For that reason alone you might consider ruling it out.
I have not driven a GT2 but have been with many on the track and if you had to pick 1 this would be my choice. Hard core, analog car that will leave you smiling. I also think it is the best value at the moment. At some point the price of this car will climb.
Any GT3 is a fantastic car. Yea, I am biased toward the 997 over the 991 but you cannot go wrong.
If it were me I would buy a 997.2 GT3 RS and then pick up a 87-89 SC for tooling around on the weekend.

I'll echo many here:
GT2 - jack of all trades; can't see the power ever getting boring
991 - DD extraordinaire; ridiculous capability; a bit less soul (not to say it doesn't have any)
930 - Art and the dreams of youth rarely meeting those expectations
If I could dig up the money, would probably buy a GT2 RS and sit on it. I don't understand why this car isn't worth 2x current ask.

accident(not salvage), over revs, etc etc..
all dont really matter in my opinion.
as long as the vehicle has been fixed right, maintained well,
should be fine.
best thing you can do is,
you have to drive it before buy it.
good luck.

My views are similar to 997s07, Rocketman, and Peteovb. I love the looks of the 930, but technology has moved on. GT2 is it for me - nothing hits/has the violence of this car. It absolutely rips anytime, anywhere, and will teach you a lesson good or bad, driver beware. The low production numbers, uniqueness of the car, and likely investment values are pluses as well. These things may not be priorities for others, but they appeal to me. If you can find one to drive, be sure to test it before you buy anything else. It will probably amaze you.
