So, has this RS been smashed?
This 7.2 RS has been for sale for about a month now if I remember correctly. Clearly it was 'decorated' by an individual with questionable taste. However, aesthetically speaking, the removal of all decals and mounting of a set of OEM wheels are about all that's needed to save it.

My question of course, is how badly has this thing been smashed? Usually when you see such a terribly decaled car for sale at a [searching for a phrase to not sound like a ****] 'non-specialist' dealership, its a sign the thing has history.
Apologies if this car has been brought up before, but anyone know any details about it?

While 3.8 RS's do eventually move and will eventually find the right buyer to bring big money, they are NOT cars that necessarily move really quickly unless priced to do so.
With track focused wheels, steel brake conversion, 4L dive planes and the other little touches it's pretty safe to assume that car spent a good deal of it's life at the track which wouldn't matter much to me but will to some.
As the seller states AutoCheck and Carfax come back clean on the car, so there's no documentation trail of any damage at any point in time. Looks like two major Porsche service campaigns were performed on the car in 2013, one of them being the intake flapper thing if I'm reading the description correctly.
SwitchCars has a similar car with similar mileage that's not PTS for $15k less though.

No idea if your assumptions are correct.
If I really wanted a .2 RS and had the funds, you would find me out there having it checked out in preparation to making them an offer. Then again, I really like GT Silver, PCCB, nice seats, full leather, red stitching, etc.
Not a fan of white instruments or after market pedals. Decals are not an issue.
However, I am very concerned about the wheel replacement and "Brand new PFC steel front rotors, new turbo Steel Rear rotors and PFC 08 pads all the way around." No way can you go through PCCBs on the street in 12K miles.

Wow, that's a higher sticker price than my RS which is also heavily optioned. Those decals are nasty and need to come off ASAP. Btw, is silver a PTS on the .2RS?

Yup, silver is a PTS color.
Make sure the seller has the original parts such as the PCCB rotors etc. Remove the ugly decals and your all set.

Good catch. VIN is a match for Clark's old car.
Full description here. Has paint work that is not reflected in reports. Used to have much nicer wheels
