I'd say they did not buy enough 4.0's had to buy that one used..
Sadly, I didn't have the foresight to grab all the MSRP (and some sub-MSRP) RS 4.0's back in the day. I still have the list, looking at it now, I had at least 6 come across my desk. (And of the 6, 5 of them were new/untitled.)
I'll probably pick up a private party used 991 GT3 and used 991 GT3RS because I hate paying sales tax. Besides, that'll give the aftermarket guys time to make mods and the gremlins will be worked out by then.
Huh? You still have to pay sales tax if you register it.

omg, usctrojan has been converted?????
What, has mooty been sweet talkin' in your ears or something?
p.s. Oh, and no sales tax in AZ if buying from private party. Being in PA, I'm SOL. lol
In TX you pay the sales tax when you license and register the car, they don't care who you bought it from. There is one dealer benefit, if you have a trade in you only pay the sales tax on the differential between the new car and the trade-in.

Don't even ask me how much sales tax I paid on half my cars.
I have residence in Nevada and years ago Nevada passed a law where if you buy a used car from an in or out-of-state private party (not a dealer or broker) then you do not have to pay sales tax on the purchase. Hence one of the reasons I buy used private party cars (besides the fact that I can speak to the seller and see if I'm comfortable with them). The registration fee in NV is 2x what it is in CA though but after you own the car for 12 months and 1 day you can transfer the ownership of the car to CA without paying sales tax.

Nah, I might have found a way to have more than one nice car...my stepdad has room in his garage so I can keep the 997 RS in there. I'd like to start my GT3 collection going. Hell, maybe I should add a 996 GT3 but alas I only have so many garage parking spaces.
I'll be down for a 991, will keep it up in Norcal, when i'm up there for work, long weekends, thunder hill. Will wait for the dip in $ :-) It'll happen, happened to them all.
