But, as we've learned from Rennlist time and time again, since when do dealers actually know what they're talking about before something is actually announced?

Yup. And as we've hopefully learned by now, allocations are never as "impossible" to get as the kool-aid club would like you to believe.
997.1 RS - The sky was falling, end of Mezger motor, etc. There were enough to go around.
997.2 RS - Ultra-rare unobtainium, but they built more 3.8 RS + 4.0 RS than they did regular GT3. There were enough to go around.
991.1 RS - I feel pretty confident that there will be enough to go around. Of course, your best friend at the dealer, the guy who sold you a ****load of cars beforehand, is incentivized to create the impression of scarcity in the market. Why anyone would listen to a dealer is beyond me...
Porsche is using the TurboS body for the RS, and the roof is camouflaged to hide
the fact that it's not flat but convex, above the driver and passenger.
What's the side scopes for if the rs is not turboed? looks beastly for sure.

For a non-RSR example, just look to the Cayman / Boxster.
Actually, no, if they're like RSR. In RSR, side scoops are for engine cooling, not engine air intake. If you look at some of the RSR pics, you'll see that the "intakes" are half-covered because they were too efficient and apparently cooled the engine too much.
BTW, what I just said came straight from the current PMNA RSR pilots, not some speculation.

Sorry, but thatīs wrong. At least on the 2012 997 RSR the side scoops were used as engine air intakes. I saw the system when they removed an engine at Manthey Racing and I have the technical documentation of the 2012 RSR.
Using the for cooling the engine would be useless as itīs watercooled and doesenīt Need the additional airflow over it.
Itīs also the same on the 991. It has no airbox in the back...
Just heard from the dealer today about the new GT3 RS. Seems the spec sheet will be released in March with first cars hitting the showrooms in June. Sounds to me like the car will be revealed at Geneva. Time will tell

I was talking about 991 RSR, not a 2012 997 RSR (completely different). Perhaps it's wrong, but I can assure you that the info came from one of the current 991 RSR pilots. I would hope they know what they're talking about. Also, what about the pics of half-blocked "intakes" then? Why would 991 RSRs limit air intake to 1/2 by blocking them off?

996 GT3's were sitting on lots for sale.
997 GT3's were sitting on lots for sale.
But, I tried to buy an RS in April 2008 and it was $35-50K over and I had to buy a normal GT3 and made a deposit for the "next" RS that everyone said would never come. I took delivery in March 2010.
I'd say they did not buy enough 4.0's had to buy that one used..
Like in 2010 there will be plenty of MSRP 991RS available, lots of money slushing around, but we're not 2007 frothy yet I think.
Than again there are these 100K 964's...

Thanks another voice with the same info. NoCa cars were just teasers.
I'll probably pick up a private party used 991 GT3 and used 991 GT3RS because I hate paying sales tax. Besides, that'll give the aftermarket guys time to make mods and the gremlins will be worked out by then.
