recalling my experience with .1 PASM ... DSC will make a noticeable difference.

Is it safe to unplug the factory PASM in a 997.1 to see what the difference is with the factory PSAM off and on? Will it light up the dash or log error codes?

I think it would be fun to experience what the car is like without PASM... and then with DSC...
Winter is about to hit so ill wait till the spring...

It will do both; my understanding is that you can drive the car with PASM disconnected, it will throw a fault code and light the "!", I *suspect* that code may not be transient, i.e next time
the dealer plugs in PIWIS the codes will appear on their logs...

I'm just there to have fun. I have an itch for a track day. I haven't passed 6.5k rpm on the car in months.

Also, I am running stock suspension on my 2008 .1 and the DSC is awesome. Street/freeway tests only to date.

Yes it does! Makes it wife approve ride! After this mod, she might want a GT3 as a DD For herself.

I have not driven a car with accelerometer upside down so thank you F1CrazyDriver for being the first and for your feedback.

I had it upside down & with wires facing back, not forward per instructions(as you can tell I was very excited to put it on the car I forgot to read instructions!), it felt good for thinking the car was upside down. Felt like a M3/ Turbo ride quality, to me.

Unplugging the PASM box will result in fault codes, not being able to select engine sport mode, very very stiff and unpleasant ride(like a dump truck), and car will not transfer weight properly. The tires will skip and slide easily in wet. Not recommended.

In this case both the vertical and longitudinal axis inputs are backward; during heavy braking it'll think the rear is lifting(instead of front diving) and accelerating will make it think the front is lifting(instead of rear squatting). Which could work even though it was never intended to work this way. Since these input are upside down and backward from front to back the processor refers to a different part of the mapping. Basically the front doesn't get as much stiffness as intended during heaving braking and the rear gets more stiffness than intended during heavy acceleration. It might still be better than stock. Thanks for finding this out for us!

Ah! That's great. Thanks, Larry!

For the .1, sounds like it's more elaborate. @Tom, is there a PDF up with instructions? I'm considering grabbing a few for some .1's and .2's.

DSC and accelerometer installation on a .1 car takes me less than one hour. More time required when there's a roll bar. The accelerometer wiring involves tying in 3 wires and a ground. I haven't made a PDF but I have illustrated the installation on two cars in this thread-

We're down to 5 units in this run. Next run will be at least 6 weeks away.

Tom, I have a question. Does the unit interfere with the lift kit? Can you still use the lift function with this upgrade? Thx

Good question. It would seem reasonable that the PASM shock valuing control is independent from air pressure activated FAL functionality.
