Yeah we've met once on the NYE drive.

I'm a technical pedant like everyone else here; Doug writes for a target audience, people who know him IRL realize that.

He doesn't work at Porsche NA anymore, he was a manager and quite to become a writer.

He wrote a book, "Plays with cars", never read it

Agreed.

You have to read between the lines with his stuff. He paid the GT3 the biggest compliment possible. It's not for everyone and it IS for hardcore enthusiasts.

That said...I don't find the ride in my .2 particularly harsh. I mean it's stiff but nowhere near as crash/bang as our Mini JCW...

I just discovered this thread so minor apologies for bringing it back to life. I'm taking a lunch break and reading old Jalopnik posts. This guy's Range Rover posts were a large part of what prompted me to get my Touareg (diesel, of course, screw you Algore) from Carmax with a ridiculously long and comprehensive warranty.

The ping pong wing bit was funny. I tell people the wing is an excellent ironing board. Yeah, the ride is bit bumpy if you roll over an ant. but that's part of the charm.

He tries to emulate Clarkson, but who doesn't? All in all kinda funny. He is a douche to drive in flip flops (we all know they are designed for riding motorcycles).

He tries pretty hard to be funny, but I generally find him somewhat enjoyable.

the fact that some losers on here get so fired up about this piece of entertainment is sad. who really cares. OMIGAWD he drove in flip flops, OH NOES

That writer is an asshat, the only thing worse than his articles are his awful youtube videos.

"And then they sell it to the kind of person who alerts IKEA to mistakes in its furniture assembly directions."

LOL

I do think he could have mentioned the steering, turn in, amd road response a bit more. Those are the first very impressive things that I noticed in the GT3
