Alrighty then. I got another fitting from Home Depot. Brass one so will be stronger. Will redo and take it for a drive with some fluid.
Still curious Mike as to when the thermostat opens??

I don't know what temp sensor will trigger but u need to run car continuously as the air cools the front radiator. It doesn't matter when it opens. U let it sit like idlying it will start to overheat or seeing coolant temps on guage going to red. Mike

Good luck! The coolant system on these holds a lot... I watched my shop drain a 997 gt3 for an engine drop and it fully filled a 5gal bucket after all the points were pulled. That there was still a bunch more in there.

News update for those who chimed in. Ended up using a 3/4" brass Pex male male fitting ( this would be a good thing to keep in the tool box for track days along with a couple clamps). Went for a drive like Mike had stated. Low coolant light went on twice. Added 8 litres of fluid on the drive. Just pulling into where we are staying and the Low Coolant light came on again. Will add more 50/50 Dex Cool. So far no leaks and temp is holding perfectly.
Heading out for home tomorrow morning.
Want to state to everyone, this forum is a fantastic wealth of knowledge and GOOD people.

Great job getting it back on road. Good luck getting it home. Post a few pics of the area you're talking about that had the issue when you get a sec and the parts you used to rig it up.

Good call on the male pex fitting, will get a couple next time I'm in there and glad you got it sorted! Will also be looking at a more "permanent" solution than the zip ties...

Wanted to let everyone know that we made it back home without any issue. Had to top up the expansion tank before we left Salmon Arm with another 4 litres (Total ~12 litres). Car ran flawlessly for the 6 hour trip. Temps perfect and no Low Coolant light. Once home I put the car on the hoist to ensure the repair was intact and it was perfectly dry and solid!
I will get some photos up on the parts I used so folks can put a "track" kit together.
Thanks again.

If u can show pics of said line that was punctired and what was used to seal it they be awesome in case that happens. Another thing to carry in car if u are running regular shift cables the shiftlinks that connects to shifter is threaded plastic. Typical trackday if u hamfist a shift it can strip. Carry one or 2 so your weekend won't be over. Glad u made it home safely. Mike

Will do Mike. Last winter I put in Cup cables and cup shifter. Much better shifting. hopefully I will not have problems with them.
Wondering if all the RL'ers should put together a GT3 first aid kit for travel and track?
Might be an interesting thread. Whenn I get the photos together I will make it a new thread to start it off.

No need to worry with cupcables. One of the best bang for the buck mods on these cars. Mike
