only 509 miles, too bad the owner didn't get to enjoy it much.

I was looking at the Australian Car configurator and the prices were absolutely stupid. Its like as if the Australian Government doesn't want you to buy foreign performance cars. A 911 Turbo S was something over $500K Australian dollars. And then for giggles I checked the price on the lowest model 911 and it was over $240K Australian. Peas and Rice that countries government sure and hell don't wan't anyone owning or buying a Porsche. I just feel so sorry for those down under. I wonder what a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta cost there?

Is a lot of the cost oc these cars just different forms of taxation?

In California we have gas guzzler tax.

Now you're talking 4.0 correct?

What's the numbers on the GT2RS, smaller than the 4.0 I think.

If I was going to buy just a Porsche as an Investment I would get an 993 Turbo S. If you're collector and want to just drive a little and sit on a car for 10, 15 or 20 years that 993 TTS is a relative diamond in the rough. Smaller production numbers than both out going 997s and in 20 years will be worth more than both.

Just like you see the values on some cars stay level for years and years then BAM out of nowhere it doubled or tripled or more in value. You see that a lot with Ferraris. Watching Chasing Classic Cars Wayne Carini talks a lot about how the markets are in flux constantly. Personally unless you really want to track a six speed Porsche just stay away from the 997 GT3 RS madness. That market will devalue as soon as the next RS hits the streets. And now that a good portion of the old RS owners have driven the PDKs they dont really mis it.

GT2RS 500WW
RS3.8 will cool down
RS4.0 while may not hit $500 anytime soon, it wont drop much lower. most "investors" have reaped their profit and most current owners are bubble wrapping them or thrashing them. you wont see many for sale out there next year.

991GT3 is really really really good. but it's not a substitute for 4.0. you cannot compare apple against pear

i drove 4.0 and 991gt back to back on very familiar roads yesterday morning. one needs BOTH. very different.

like krug.
you need to get back into hi-fi; dollar to value ratio very good and little to no maintenance costs.
the trick is to settle with chosen set-up and not move on that. if you buy well, you don't need to move for at least 20 years.

TACET - australian prices are totally ridiculous. too many taxes on foreign cars. when you go over a certain threshold, you get slugged with 'LCT' luxury car tax. it was all done in the 80's to protect the local car industry. now, most of that industry is shutting down due to high labour costs, amongst other things.....the cars are just not competitive anymore against vw, audi, merc or bmw who all have bought entry model prices down.
the upper-crust models remain hideously expensive;
over $150k for new cayman s, c63, rs4, m3.
over $300k for new 991 c4s, gt3, sl500, r8.
over $500k for new sls, 458, macca, conti gt.
over $800k for new f12, aventador.

then you need about $4k p.a. at least, for registration and insurance.

the roads here are crap, congested, and people don't know how to drive.
unless you are tracking, or you worship at the altar of weissach, the case for gt3 ownership is not too strong here.

hence why i stick to hi-fi

mooty - you know hi-fi is cheaper than cars! lol
yes, amps are indeed ja-30 monoblocks. you know ur shiz! each using 2 x kt-88 per channel for 30 watts class a.
very refined sound for a summer amp.
tt is vpi classic 3 with shelter 501. see, not to deep.........you can do it on budget, no need to go too crazy.
jadis has a new u.s. distributor now, i think called bluebird. it used to be fanfare many moons ago.

had older voi with Wheaton tri planar and ghram engineering.
also paired with air tangent, but it will not stay I. alignment. I got tires of it.

u know well, JA30 is janis' best. JA80 didn't have the same delicacy.

is that an ARC phono stage under VPI.

as recovering audiophile, I should stop asking....

i'll help you recover!
yes, ARC is ph3 although it has gotta go as is by far the weakest link. not enough gain for .4mv cart, can hardly listen to it.
ja30 is indeed the sweet spot in range - the others have too many tubes and too many problems.
30 is quiet and reliable. i had defy 7 before and that did fireworks spectacular. also orchestra integrated in system2 is great daily driver.
the new weisfield designs are set n forget, much less complicated than previously. he has also just released a new direct drive version which requires even less maintenance.
the old days were the best though; so heady! lol nearly bought some ascent avalons recently but too much load for jadis...

meanwhile........the last 4.0 to sell here was advertised at $500k and sold within days.
went to a good home.
the others are in hiding, tucked away somewhere.
