.2 GT3 RS tire & size recommendations
So, I've read a couple posts on recommended tires for the NB GT3, and track tires for the RS, but have yet to find a comprehensive discussion on optimal RS tires, both type & sizing. Figured I'd compile my thoughts on what I've read, and open it up to additional input.
Street or DD tires
For DD, figured most people are sticking to 19's. Right now, I just toasted the fairly new R888 that were on the car when I bought it, in less than 3000 miles of daily driving. To be fair, my daily commute is about 40 miles of mountain roads each way, but since it's public roads, I'm not absolutely nailing it for the most part. I'm looking for another good set of daily driver tires, that still have plenty dry grip, and can do track duty if called upon. I want cost effectiveness, decent wet weather performance (the mountain road has lots of wet spots in the mornings), and some longer life (ideally at least 7k miles). It seems to me that the best option would be the Bridgestone RE-11. Second choice would be the MPSS or MPSC2, but then I'm looking at around $800 more per set compared to the Bridgestone. So, from what I gather the RE-11 are the best all around compromise. Or, is there another other tire that I'm missing?
Also, for DD, is anyone running tires in different than OEM widths? I don't think any additional width is needed in the rear, but do you recommend going wider in the front? I've been reading about messing with sizes too much will screw up the 'nannies', which I've been keeping on for the most part on the road. Then again, finding another size in 19" DD oriented tires, like 255 is going to be problematic.
Track biased streetable tires
Down the line, I'm also looking to get a more dedicated track wheel/tire combo. Then it will be deciding between 18 & 19 size wheels, and which tires. It sounds like 18 would be the better choice in order to open up more tire options, and also lower tire cost. It seems the NT01 is a favorite before stepping up to full slicks, but are people running those on the wide body RS? It doesn't look like they go wider than 315 for the rears, so is that what people are running on the RS, along with 245 fronts? If not, what other tire out there that's similar money, and not the full hoosier? There's a general dislike towards the r888's, since they go off without warning. Again, second choice here seems to be the MPSC, but cost is the killer compared to other options.
Dedicated track tires
Once stepping up to hoosiers or other slicks, seems 335 and 255 are the recommended tires.

Here is some data I've been gathering (and testing with)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...kE&usp=sharing
Best track-day tire is the 265/335/R18 BFG R1 IMO, but it's not really streetable. NT01 is a good choice, but you will not be putting the widest tire that fits on the RS. For Street and light/begining DE use, the PSS is a great option.
I'm looking forward to the Hoosier R7....
