Default Need Track Tires for 997.2 GT3

I have had my GT3 for about eight months and I took it on the track for the first time a couple of weeks ago at Thunder Hill. I want to get a set of track tires. I picked up an extra set of rims so now I am looking for the tires. Any help would be appreciated since I have no experience in this area.

Thanks

Nitto NT01's are a good choice but they have been backordered for a long time. They last a long time and are a cheaper alternative than either the Michelin Sport Cups or Pirelli Trofeo R's.

Also, you can go to a more track specific tire like Hoosiers or slicks.

If you are just getting started I'd put a set of MPSS on the car. Good grip, work in the rain and you can drive to and from the track if you want. I've done this on the last three cars and it works for me.

Moving up you have several choices in more track specific tires as already noted.

First time as in this car or first time ever? If ever, stick with street tires.

18": Nitto's if they ever make our sizes again; R888 (if all else fails)
19": Street: Hankook RS3's hands down before MPSS. Great grip, last a long time; little sensitivity to heat cycles. R comp: Pilot Sport Cup2's. I'm in the middle of experimenting with these and they're pretty awesome. Seem like better grip than the stock cup 1's but better wear. Love the Trofeo R's but they wear very quickly.

18" wheels use Nitto NT01 drive to the track run drive home they are great

19" wheels...street tire I like Yokohama AD08R. Amazing tire period. Better than Michelin Pilot Super Sport and Sport Cup.

I have the Pirelli pzero corsa tires on the car now when they get hot they seem lose grip and throw off a lot of rubber these are the tires that came on the car

Corsas don't like high pressures when hot, and try to keep them between 32 - 34.

Yokohmas AD08R's work well for 19"

Interested to hear as well. Cost is always a factor with these...
