Other than simply replacing with the identical OEM replacement part, is there a recommended upgrade? SharkWerks doesn't have anything specific listed... (They're my Go To.)
Tom at champion recommends the Guard 60/40 LSD for 997 GT2's!

I have a 2008 GT2 with 6k miles and recently installed TPC's DSC module: http://www.planet-9.com/news-items/9...e-987-2-a.html

It was a 10 minute install and drastically improved the PASM. Highly recommended.

At 41,500+ miles now. Second owner, not all mine... But I plan to go for a long while.

Nice. Will look into that, too! From my brief skimming of the product description, it seems pretty helpful.

Thanks, folks!

Congrats again on a great car.
Re my LSD comment...first of all I did not mean to drop a nugget and walk away. Let me add a bit of color, bought 7GT2 new in '08 and kept until '14. Only drove under 8,000 miles a few track days, but mostly did not use the car. Managed to need to replace the clutch (was starting to slip) and LSD could not feel and when tested with rear in air side to side would not lock. I did some research and discovered a few other guys here on RL all had needed to upgrade and elected to go to the Guard LSD. I have Giken on another pcar and über happy, but for this car I was also going to go with Guard.

However, I ended up selling the car before doing the repairs and bought a GT2RS thanks to Mooty here.

I am very excited about the car.Yup its not an RS but I do believe its the undervalued P car on the market as we speak.I just think its the right car for me.Mine will get well driven.I just hit 35k on my Ford GT!

Congrats to the OP, great choice and welcome to a very exclusive club (more exclusive than Carrera GT )

This is what Porsche say about the LSD set up

So the low preload allows the GT2 chassis to be loose and IMO for a GT2 with standard power/torque the system works well and doesn't lack traction, If I was to have a standard engine I think I would keep the stcok set up with Motorsport or Guard internals.

When you increase the torque above 800NM however the system is not really fit for purpose, the extra torque needs a functioning LSD in the system otherwise it is just a flashing light TC fest.
Matt at Guard fixed me up with one of his works of art and it is an awesome bit of kit.
I am talking about daily driving here not tracking which I am not qualified to comment on.

Could you comment some more on the changes which you can feel with the DSC, how it the ride compliance on stage 1 is it firmer than standard or ? Do you run standard or Bilstien Damptronic B16s ?

I'm using DSC with the stock suspension. Tough to describe, but I'll try. Stage 1 with DSC is more compliant than stock, non-sport mode. Stage 2 and 3 both provide more compliant and controlled road feel than sport mode. Before, the car would just crash over potholes and bumps. Now, those same bumps and potholes are muted.

Before DSC I would feel the back "squirm" when applying power on high speed curves. With DSC the back end feels more planted.

Congrats! What a beauty. No dull moments ahead. Not sure what part of the country you are in (Hot and humid Houston for me) but if this car excites you in August, you are in for a treat come Fall and Spring. :-)

To be honest, both the 997.1 GT2 and the 997.2 GT2 RS are undervalued right now. They have been from the start. If you see a clean one out there, grab it!

Hmm, I can't find this for the GT2 / RS on their site... and that link is for the 987.2 version. I presume they're different?

How'd you order yours for your GT2?
