Underhood Sticker

Underhood Sticker
Does anyone know whether the square white sticker (on the underside of the hood near the latch) with the factory build (VIN + Option Codes) can be obtained as a spare part. Looking to replace a very tacky and torn sticker - dealer says it's unobtainable.

I have replaced them on Concours projects before, typeset is a little tricky but can make them pretty much identical. Just take it to a very good graphics shop and they should be able to reproduce on 3M paper with sticky backing.

U can order I think from dealer with your vin no if u want to go original. My black sticker in the engine rear lid was all scratched up so had my mechanic order another sticker so it should be possible. Mike

do 997 have under hood option stickers? mine is in the owners manual/warranty manual. my 997.2 was same. I'm talking about the square/rectangle white one one with the crappy print, vin, color and option codes...
seems maybe dealer dependent...

Might try a Porsche auto body shop with your vin if dealer won't help out. Many of the stickers are DOT required such as emissions and must be replaced if destroyed or attached to a replaced part, e.g. hood, door panels, etc. I had some hood & engine stickers replaced but they had to come from Germany. Body shop did the ordering.

Thanks for your guidance - beginning to suspect that my dealer didn't want to be bothered. I'll try another dealer and if that doesn't go anywhere, I'll try AG direct - PCNA is hopeless in my experience. I also think that these stickers should be reproduceable at the factory. I'd prefer to avoid having to resort to cscrogham's graphic arts but as a last resort, I'll do as he says. And yes, I can confirm that the 997.2 GT3 does have an underhood build sticker with VIN, color and option codes. Thanks again everyone.

The stickers (two of them) came in the PDI package. The dealer asked me whether I wanted it stuck to the hood or not. I said yes, and kept the second one with the other PDI documents for future resale purposes.

Correct, part of the delivery paperwork. Two stickers on one page, one should be attached to the car, placement unspecified but general in the frunk. Second should be place in the front of the service book. All described in the PDi procedure. Tech can be lazy so just bin.
I don't believe genuine stickers can be sort from Porsche anywhere. Copies can be made if you can get the right type face (dot matrix printer type).
All German car manufactors are the same and I believe its a TUV requirement there.

I've had lazy PDI techs I guess with my 3 pcars! Stickers in book, not on hood or other places (and no hoods haven't been re-painted).

You can make most anything with a little time and some good software, it does help to have a print shop with the proper materials, etc for a nicely finished product. These are some bits I made for a Carrera Cup USA where the original tag was stained and torn. The dot matrix was a challenge but do-able.
