Is modding a " disease " ?
It seems that once you start you can not stop. Are we really making our cars " better " or just more personal?
Where does one draw the line?
How do you modify without sacrificing?
When does it become too expensive ?
Just thought it might be interesting...

Depends.
Everything I change on cars is done to make them safer; which means, handle better, stop faster, and go faster.
My wife says I just make 'em louder.

Three Wheelin'
technically fits the definition of an addiction
- compulsive behavior
- Habit-forming
- tolerance and withdrawal occurs
- Harmful to the user (financially in this case)

Nurse, where is the dang NURSE! Yes, it is a disease, totally addicted, love it. For my purposes, yes it is personal, but it makes the car handle better at the track. Looks better, too, but that is personal taste......how much is too much? Haven't gotten there, yet..........

yes, but it is curable.
when you've gone pretty far, you see the light and return to normal.
if you don't go far enough, you get another car and repeat the process. and keep repeating.

I am a mod-*****.
Best thing to do is make a list of everything that will fit your car and buy it all now. Then you can breathe easy and relax knowing there is nothing else you can really do.
My RS has everything I could ever dream to bolt onto it. Now that it is complete i can quit looking at mod parts and no longer worry about combing classifieds looking for other people's take-off go fast parts etc.
Trouble is i have other cars that wanna be modded...
It dosnt stop with the one car. You find more cars to mod.
I am a hoarder of 911s and 911 parts... It is a disease. I spend way too much time shopping, spending and storeing...
Id be a rich man if i didnt collect cars..
Rennlist dosnt make it any better

I agree with Aussie Jimmy. I own a modding company and I end up talking people out of modifying their cars more than modifying them. Most aren't aware that there is typically a sacrifice. Company concentrates mainly on BMW's, but you've all seen what I'm up to with my RS. Parts are coming from this build that will help others.
That said, I agree that once you've gone all the way (engine, transmission, diff, suspension, brakes, interior, CF body panels, paint), you really can start to appreciate an OEM car for what it is.
