Default Porterfield R-4

Any body run these on a non PCCB GT3? I have had the R-4S pads on previous cars and absolutely loved them. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with the R-4. I currently have the Padgid Yellow's and hate them...

Not exactly, but I've run them on my rally car and they rule! A lot of the EVO guys love the R4 and R4E pads. The guys at Porterfield are super friendly as well. I was thinking of trying them considering I loved them on my old Mitsu.

I ran them on my 69 Miura S. Great pad, though dusty for those that worry about such.

R4 is a great pad, but it doesn't really work for fast/heavy cars like the GT3. You'll see fade quickly. Back when I first started DE'ing, I went to these as a "beginner" track pad for my M3, and they were outstanding, lots of modulation, very easy on rotors, but the trade-off is high wear rate when hot, and they fade once you get fast enough.

I would not use them on a GT3 with sticky rubber. Go with PFC08 (or the forthcoming evolution), or some Carbotech's (if you want a more "Porterfield" like carbon based pad).

I wonder if the R4E (endurance) would work on the heavier cars? That was my plan if the R4s didn't work for me.

The R4 worked well with the unassisted 12" vented Porterfield 2-piece rotors and Goodrich Comp T/A R1 (vintage) tires on the car, but I never tracked the Miura.

But, to Mvez's point, that car was relatively light (~2750 pounds), though it had ~350 real HP.

I've often wondered if the R4 would have made a good PCCB pad as a I don't love either the P40 or P50.

I have 200 miles on my pfc 08 pads. I'm not the slowest car. I also don't use brakes much. My pfc looked brand new and only used 1mm combine in 120 track miles + 1600 street miles

Thanks for the feedback. Seems a bunch of people favor the PFC's
