It's my understanding that one of the perks of buying a 918 is having your own allotment to Porsche special releases regardless of the dealers typical allotment. IE if the dealer sells a 918 they get their normal RS + 1 for the 918 buyer if the excercise that option. I would say they're just trying to sell you the cayman GTS (especially before the more track oriented version which is rumored gets announced.

pass on the GTS. It is all fluff....

wait for a RS allocation elsewhere or get your dealer to mark you down for Cayman GT4...

Oh, em I getting this right...

Since you wanted an RS and the dealership got an extra RS allotment because they sold an 918 - and that 918 owner wants the car you're stuck out in the sticks because of it?

How were you going to configure the RS? It just smells too fishy to me. Since they are supposedly only getting two allocations I think the sales manager is going to configure it with a bunch of Crap to drive up the price.

I say find another dealer plain and simple. And when the RS's finally do come out just make sure they, this original dealership, doesn't have Two RS's in their inventory for the first year because then you can call them out on it.

This kind of thing happens all the time. Someone puts down money for the promise of a slot for ownership. Then the dealership ask what you might put on the car and if it isn't that much. For instance no sports chrono and $10,000 worth of other add-ons that don't make much sense for your GT3; then the dealership will try to pull out of the agreement!

As I said before, what the dealership is saying just sounds fishy. Go to another reputable dealer and get your RS.

hard to believe the GTS would be made a limited production. If so, I am sure the marketing department would have proclaimed it. The GTS seems like a great car but let's be honest, other than an engine tweak ,body kit, & GTS badge it really isn't any different from the standard car you can build yourself, unlike for example the Boxster Spyder with aluminum doors, special roof construction, etc ...

From what I can tell, there are no issues getting an allocation for a GTS. I think the "limited edition" talk from the dealer must be a bunch of bunk. Unless they were really talking about the GT4. Maybe that will be limited edition, but I doubt it and I'm positive your dealer wouldn't know anything for sure at this point including number of RS allocations.

Sounds like a Bait and Switch. Take back any money you have for an allotment and go somewhere else. And ask for Interest too for your inconvenience because they have been earning Interest on it if they have it!
