1199 Superleggera finally arrived
I posted a while back about me being lucky enough to get one of 500 Superleggera built by Ducati. Well, she finally arrived and I am the proud owner of nr 086!
Now she gets shipped to UK to be turned into a WSBK - looking at sub 150kg with circa 210RWBHP
The story behind this bike is the top brass said to their team, go build your perfect bike. So they took the 1199 and said how can we improve it and they looked at everything and focussed on lightening - an example being the radiator cap where they saved 9g changing the materials, but gave a 33% weight saving! The details of the bike are amazing - titanium screws, magnesium frame, carbon fairings....
Once I have had the works completed, it should be quite a special bike and to think its gonna be thrashed on the track too! Roll on September!

Nice! I bought one of the ten 2002 998RS wsbk spec customer bikes from the factory back in 2002. It's crazy how much better this street bike is than my works bike.My bike only made 180 rwhp and although it had magnesium this and titanium that, your bike is better for $20k less than what I paid back then - and the dollar could buy a Euro in 2002 for only about 80 cents.
Congrats, I'm envious.

The only things going to remain on the bike are the engine, frame, swing arm and gear box. Everything else is changing (wsbk spec from Ducati Corse):
1) All new carbon race fairings and rear sub-frame; carbon tank; carbon air ducts and venting for radiator
2) Complete new front end - forks Ohlins FGR300 (same as motogp bikes), triple clamps, head stock, brake callipers, brake master cylinder, wheel and disc - to give you idea of spec, each calliper costs £3,500.00; clutch master cylinder
3) 2014 Termignoni exhaust system (gives 10bhp more in midrange....)
4) Closed race cooling system
5) wiring looms/switch gear etc/telemetry kit
6) new 60 degree throttle
7) HEL brake/clutch lines
8) ECU/MAP - this is the clever stuff - from controlling precision of gear changes and throttle blip to how far the throttle bodies open in each gear.... for example i'll likely have 70% of full throttle in 1st!
9) Race wheels
10) Rearsets
After this, the difference between my bike and a WSBK will be:
1) the electronics - I don't need the full system and I can't have two technicians to run it!
2) my bike will actually be lighter - due to the magnesium frame I have; wsbk cannot have this
3) the WSBK engine will likely have 5bhp more than mine - but it gets rebuilt a lot more often!
