Default Just bought 680hp GT2

I just bought the 2008 GT2 described in this article:

http://www.europeancarweb.com/featur...confrontation/

The car only has 1,800 miles on it and has not been tracked. It looks like new. I will drive it a little but I bought it as a long term hold. For those who like to track the values of these cars, I paid $148k.

I want to buy the stock parts so that way down the road if it turns out these GMG parts actually devalue the car, I want to be able to put them on.

Does anyone have thoughts on if these parts would diminish the collectibility of the car?

If anyone has any of these stock parts for sale, let me know:

rear GT insignia - they replaced the stock one with one that says "WC GT" (World Challenge GT)
wheels
intercoolers
sway bars
suspension links
rear wing blade
exhaust (mufflers, cats, headers)

Thanks

Looks like an immaculate car - congratulations.

I think your sentiments on modifications are correct, I have "ruined" my stock 7GT2 and there is no turning back but hopefully if I ever sold it it would be worth similar to a stock one....

I think you would be wise to ditch the ECU tune on yours, claiming 680hp and 700ftlbs, whilst these numbers are way too high for the components (stock turbos are good for about 640PS and at high loads the heat will bring that right back to below 600hp) the 700ftlb claim should make any prospective buyer run for the hills since this is 950+NM, the stock rods will bend at 850NM.

Would be fascinating to see a data log of your engine accelerating up to 180mph, this would reveal all.

The other bolt on bits I wouldn't worry about, relatively easy and cheap to replace.

Anyone have a comment on the price? Overpay, underpay, about right?

997 GT2 is undervalued right now. $148k with your mods is reasonable, but since you didn't get the OE parts with the purchase I would say it was fair- if they were included, you would have gotten a great deal.

Have you driven the car? Have you done a PPI on the car?

Yes, I drove it and did a PPI. I got it from the same dealer that did the previous services and was able to get all the service records too. It's a no-stories car. Owned by a guy who loved to have the baddest and fastest but never really drove them hard. He also owned the white GT3 in the article.

The only thing I could find wrong with it was that the SAI smog readiness flag was not set. But in Cali you can get a pass with one flag not ready.

I own a couple 993TT's and the acceleration of this car makes them seem like carnival toys. I am pretty impressed but I do think I will de-tune it and put it back to stock - which will still spank the 993TT.

You can still see the pics here:http://scottsdale.porschedealer.com/...59826/info.php

Perhaps, if I can find unblemished stock wheels at a decent price.

I have a set of 997.1 RS wheels that are black with black RS centercaps... if those bbs are the right size/offset and centers -- maybe we could strike a deal

Wouldn't my car have come from the factory with silver wheels? I could source the GT2 center caps but I would want whichever color would have come with the car. Are the RS wheels the same as the GT2 wheels other than the center caps?

In truth I would rather have one of the 993TT's, especially if you had an S version. See which cars command more money in 10 or 20 years? Could be close.
