Default Thunderhill in NorCal finally got me...

Busted sound with a 997.2 GT3 and Sharkwerks Bypass at 108db!!! 108!?! WTF? Had been running all day, as well as the last year and a half, with the same car and now they feel it's too loud. They shut me down on the fastest lap of the day, too.

They nailed Slowandsteady at 106 in his RS, and another buddy in a 997.1 GT3 at 106. All of this during the last session of the day. I've run T-Hill in all weather with this car and all of a sudden it's too loud? Maybe they were lying before when they said they were monitoring?

Considering they just invested in the west track I hope I get to run it. But, I'm really not interested in spending my time and money to get sent to the paddock. I was hoping T-hill was immune to this **** but Sonoma is the last local track for Norcal GT3'ers, it seems. And, no, I'm not lifting, installing vaccum plugs or adding turn-down pipes...

/end rant (same as you can find anywhere in the archives about this crap.)

Pull the side mufflers and run the center muffler and u should be Golden. I don't have any symphony for 108db. That is freakin loud and accomplishes nothing except damaged hearing. I spent over 35 years wearing hearing protection in the Navy and later farming and despise loud noises. Rant over

I agree. 108db would be nuts. I don't want that and glad I don't have that. As a helicopter pilot I totally get noise abatement and deal with it as a part of my career. But, a race track in the middle of nowhere... Just irks me.

Thill needs to be careful about how they make their measurements. They need to get their act together or people won't want to bother making the long drive. They are VERY inconsistent. They flagged my buddy's bone stock 997.2 GT3 for sound once. Since then, he's never been flagged.

All this because someone fired up a race engine in the middle of the night once...

I believe in Darwinism.
if cow cannot survive 115 db, let them cow tip and done.
I'm a vegetarian with sweet tooth.

No one is talking about 108db in a residential area...we are talking about a track in the middle of nowhere.

Exactly.

But I'll settle for 103db. I can't believe my car goes beyond that.

108... 100... 105. Shouldn't matter. They are middle of no where. I think club race weekend with full blown race cars will create more noise than simple DE/ private day. Maybe Walmart people are complaining since they are the closest thing to the track. They are using cows as excuse... What was the complain originally? Was it really from ranch owners near by?? What would they have next? Emission sniffers at the paddock?

I'm gonna have to take off my fabspeed track pipes off for my visit to Laguna Seca (105db) and Thunderhill (103db) later on this year and put the center muffler on with the BBI side delete muffler pipes so I can pass at both tracks.

I know this isn't new territory so I know I'm just adding to the rant archives but damn, it's disappointing. Where can we enjoy these cars at WOT anymore without modding our mods? Lol. I get that I increased the sound of my car but like I said I deal noise abatement daily so I fully understand the need for quiet time. But, in the middle of a weekday??? 8 miles out of town??

(sigh..) I digress...

Seriously. They nailed my bsr at 106 with 2 giant mufflers, and a practically straight pipe bsr at 107... Something has to be wrong.

Maybe they need to calibrate their DB reader. You might want to move down to So Cal, our tracks don't have those annoying db limits.
