Different car but interesting results. I just got a new exhaust sytem from Burns Stainless for my Z06 that is pretty modified and asked the guys at T-hil to test me for sound about 2 weeks ago. My car came in at 97db and that is with the Burns Stainless straight through (mtorocycle style) mufflers on it and I have headers, big cam, high compression etc. etc. I'm not familiar with the stuff for your cars but if you have re-buildable mufflers is it possible that the packing material is just burnt up and you need to re-pack them?

I think what happens is that once you bypass the side mufflers with the SW set-up it's basically like running track pipes with no mufflers. I know my fabspeed maxflo won't pass the 103 TH or 105 LS limits so I'll throw my stock center muffler with BBI side muffler deletes to make it work.

I remember that video! Mikymu is definitely our resident DIY'er and Technical tester for sure.

I don't claim the SW product isn't loud but what gets me is that I've never busted sound in this car with this configuration at any track in California but all of a sudden, now I do. I'm figuring out which option I want to take as I don't want to not support these tracks and my HPDE habit.

Side muffler delete and run stock center muffler, headers and cats. I have this setup on my 6GT3 and it is 95/96db as measured at RR a local track that has a 103db limit. I put my stock muffler back on da Civic for my Left Coast trip do I wouldn't have any sound problems.

That is EXACTLY what I'll do for the LS 105db weekend and TH's 103db weekend. If I don't pass at either with the stock muffler, I'll never go back to those tracks again!

I have run these before on my car and a friends GT3.

They don't seem to affect power. I can't really tell the difference in sound either but the meter sure does. I dropped 4db with em at Sonoma.

Everyone is tighten up on sound this year. I was shocked when I got flagged at Sonoma. Thill has always had funky sound readings. I suggest you address it with a bolt on tip type solution. Angles and/or cones will get you under the limit.

They got me in November. Spent half a track day having this fabricated. I'm running the full Akra setup. With bypass pipes I was just barely under the limit.

maybe higher readings in the wet due to reflective surface where sound waves bounce off road more?

Maybe cold, cloudy, and/or rainy days register a higher DB reading.

meh...
they have a meter
they have a meter guy.
i am not sure that the meter guy knows how to read meter. the concept of number line 103 > 90db is not easy to understand. i think they need help.

i am willing to be the meter guy. i know math.
all our cars are 80db
