Z28 vs GT3 991 Autoweek

Why is the Camaro Z28 being made available in such limited numbers? Is Chevrolet subsidizing this model to curry favorable press to bolster a reputation for a company a few years out of bankruptcy? In other words, a $56k discount over a GT3 isn't real if you can't get one.
The Z28 has some serious track credibility, aided by some very sticky, large tires. It's a pure track car and not a daily driver, seriously compromising its versatility, so the "price savings" is somewhat illusory.

Savy, can you have 2 Z28's at Spring mountain, when do they start delivering.
I'll take one.
Oh, I want it in tire rubber stain Charcoal please.
Or bring 3, Nizer will join in..

Actually I wish you would post one more time Pete. I know you had the 2RS in the picture, and did you also have a 4.0? That would certainly qualify you as a fanboy. It also qualifies you to opine on all things GT. What changed your mind so drastically? Did you lose a lot of money on one of these or did Porsche not support your track ventures adequately? I'd love to know...

There are a lot more going in that direction!

Camaro feels cramped inside compared to 911 IMO...

IIRC(been a while), Corvette(C6) feels bigger and airier and has better visibility. Cabin/visibility is biggest downfall of Camaro's. Seats might help the spacing, but visibility sucks anyway you look at it(no pun intended).
Even in stock SS form it is a nicely balanced chassis but not necessarily 'fun', feels like a 5series IMO.
Z28 is putting the numbers down though! Look forward to hearing other's independent reviews.
Cheers,
P.S. saw the other thread, hope you and car are ok!

The reason that people speculate about the tires is because the z28 seems to lap unnaturally quickly for what it's constituent parts. It's heavy, has a manual transmission (which I like), rwd, and isn't hugely more powerful than its competitors.

It's just that speculation. Misguided at that because trofeo r are not new tires. MPSC 2 are new but unlikely to be worse than the latest iteration of MPSC, and the dunlops on the GTR are not slouches for tires. Both are R comp fast just like trofeo.
The 991 TTS might be the only car with a legitimate complaint. The rest have been riding tire advantages for years so it's going to fall on deaf ears regardless.
This is not like going from street tire to r comp. All of these tires provide r compound level grip.
