Default Trade a GT2 for a GT3RS?

Question for everyone:

Forgetting the driving experience of both cars as it is based on personal preference, would you guys trade a low miles no track 2008 GT2 plus $10-20K for a certified 2011 GT3RS 3.8 with equally low miles and no track time? Which do you think will hold its value or appreciate more? I know these aren't investments but thought I'd ask everyone's opinion anyway.

Love the GT2 but I like the GT3RS also...

Thanks for the thoughts.

Hmm. "Better" depends on definition of what you are looking for. If better means faster and quicker, then GT2. If better means better street-ability and/or daily driver, then GT2. If better means greater tuning potential, then GT2. If better means rarer, then GT2. If better means better looking, then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The RS is better than the GT2 and many other ways. That said, the market has clearly demonstrated that the RS is in greater demand at this stage in maturity of 997 GT's. If the run of GT2's is truly over, then the low production numbers will make them highly collectible in 10 years from now. (my .02 :-).

tuff call...

The 997GT2 delivers the goods and is currently under appreciated. Soon the market will take note and resale will follow suit like that of the 997.2RS.

Would i dump a GT2 for a 997.2RS? Im not sure. Then again i don not have any seat time in the GT2.
If you were to do it, Even trade perhaps, but do not pay extra.

A GT2 can be a fun cheater on the track and decent daily driver on the weekdays.

Please PM me details and contact info if you still have the GT2 for trade or sale.

Yes I would personally go GT3RS vs. GT2 +10K MAX. I don't think i would go 20K...and I agree with the above poster I would try to go even trade or value before paying 20K more...

In the long run they will be equally rare with the GT2 having the edge but you will always have those desiring the RS badge. If it was a GT2RS then that gets more equal to the 4.0 RS.

Do it. GT2 will find a new home where it'll be appreciated more. Everyone happy.

I say do it. I think part of the value increase of the GT3RS, is it seems to be a desirable car beyond just pure enthusiasts. Just look how much content there is about the GT3RS compared to the GT2. Videos, reviews, articles, marketing content, and traffic on the forums. That exposure translates directly into desire for the RS. While I think the GT2 is amazing and desirable in its own right, don't think it will ever get the "PR" the RS does, and therefore have a smaller group of enthusiasts seeking it.

As far as pure driving experience, as others have said, its personal choice. Again, limited # of people with experience behind the GT2 vs RS.

Nice problem to have eh?

^ the only thing that I sometimes miss from my turbo is the low-end torque. Otherwise, prefer RS in all respects to turbo car (including GT2 variant).

GT3RS never does anything better than GT2. Maybe as good as, but not better.

Unless you are one of those who need it to sound a certain way. Or need a big boy racer wing.

Driving the NA car is like driving a neutered GT2.

200 GT2 in the USA give or take a few. Thousands of GT3/RS.

Most people will never get to really drive a GT2 properly, but literally thousands of people will do precisely that with the NA car. You can decide what's a better value.

Had x2 7.2 GT3 RS: went back to 7.2 GT3. Thought about adding another 7.2 RS, now chosen an '08 GT2.

Besides everything that goes with the "RS" badge (looks, knowing you have an "RS", big CF wing, etc.), I personally didn't find the actual driving differences between the 7.2 GT3 and RS that significant.

Both 7.2 RS and GT2 will hold their values better than other cars. You can make a case for either, but that's purse speculation. Being patient and picking either up at the right price and driving it to enjoy is my goal.

After 6.2 GT3, 7.1 GT3 RS, and a few 7.2 GT3s of sorts,... I am after a different experience. And likely a better daily driver that is more exclusive.

As Tom said - maybe even trade, not extra $.

To choose between a GT2 and a GT3RS is like choosing between your favorite burger joint's single cheese burger or their double cheese burger. Both are great and have their pros and cons...

I prefer the ol' classic single burger which would be a GT3.
But I do lust for a double burger at times which would be the GT2.

A true connoisseur should have both, but to only have one you must decide if you are a single burger guy or double burger guy....

Not easy!!

Well Said, X2! Spend a few $'s on the suspension and achieve 90%+ the feel of an RS. What's missing is the glorious noise of an RS.
