Power Steering Pump Making "weird" noises
Just pulled fan belt and started car cold, confirmed, it's the power steering pump making noise. Maybe a bearing going out or something.
So now the dilemma:
--Just replace with OEM?
OR
--Install the cup electric unit?
Cup unit will be more $ installed, but supposedly they are dead reliable, and gets the load off the engine, negligible weight difference, but no flammable hydraulic fluid in the back over the engine.... OEM, well it's OEM and original. This is one mod that reversing would be hard, so it'll stick with the car.
Opinions?

Going OEM, looks quite easy to replace (famous last words), ordered part, not expensive (for a porsche). Found a few docs on swapping on the turbo gt engine, it's about the same.
Will do the cup pump when i drop the engine for coolant pipes and other updates as you can't remove the piping w/o an engine drop.
****QUESTION**** Anyone in the LA area interested to help wrench on this one? :-) I'll buy lunch, beer!!

I may need empty beer bottles to catch all the hydraulic fluid that is no doubt going to go everywhere.

Well, misdiagnosis by me. I took it to the shop as I decided this was more work than I had time to spend wrenching this weekend... and it's the pulley next to the pump, pump is fine. I swear I checked all the pulleys, clearly not, it's a little crunchy when spinning with pressure and other 2 are smooth. Pretty easy fix and not too expensive.
Will save the cup pump conversion for another day.
