Point of View 997.1 GT3
When researching past reviews on the 997.1 I have found that "Excellence" takes a somewhat less than positive spin on the 997.1 GT3, citing unresolved suspension issues. While the Euro Porsche mags tend to praise the car. Has anyone here found that they could not live with the suspension as delivered and switched out the stock PASM for something else?
Personally I find the car to be brilliant the way it is. Any comments?

Articles are written by people with opinions. That's all they are.
I only concern myself with the opinions of those whom I respect and those who's opinions I trust. If it doesn't fall within those parameters, well frankly I don't give a **** what they say.

Somewhere in the archives Pete Stout and I discussed this. I describe is a feeling that the car doesn't take one set in corners. With 6.5 years of experience with this car, my belief is that it's due to the rear suspension being a bit under damped and the PASM not being as refined as it could be. You can easily drive around it however and the car never does anything evil.

My .1 is "street only" and aside from a Goldcrest alignment and corner balance is as delivered.
There are lots of great Porsche roads near where I live with curves and elevation changes. I find it brilliant as well. I was a racer in my younger days and the .1 GT3 even in stock form has more capability than most drivers can handle expertly.
Also consider that magazine test cars are usually press fleet vehicles and the one that Excellence tested may have been treated roughly before they tested it.

ha ha. I bought mine for the stealth cupholders- the rest of the car just serves as a place for me to sit until I get to the next coffee shop. So the suspension, performance, sound, etc. are just fluff.

Haven't found anything that needs fixing, other than alignment. BWTFDIK

What he said. Old threads here seemed to me to show the inboard lower control arm bushings are a weak link. After doing them, I’d agree with the others. I think the “undulating” pavement problems come down to what changing side loads do to toe, as the car goes over heaves in a sweeper. Once the bushings are firmed up (replaced), the uneasy feel of variable rear toe goes away.

My car is 90% track and I think .1 PASM sucks compared to a good aftermarket set up (mcs, Moton, ohlins, xtc, etc)
After installing motons I was mad at myself for not doing it sooner
It's better on street and track IMHO
